ELMA STANLEY, Preridenl MoTTo: We are Building noi for Fame, butfor Chamcier Student Government is the highest and most desirable form of college government. The basic principle of self-government is character, founded on honor. In order to have a successful student government, we must have both individual and group participation and cooperation. The highest ideals of the student body as a whole are stimulated by student government, which is an inspiration to the students to make their life a success, as well as to help others. At the beginning of the winter quarter, Pauline Lester, acting president, having succeeded Beulah Goodson who graduated in December, presided over the installation of the incoming oflicers. These are Elma Stanley, president, Ruth Ann Godby, vice president, and Penny Mellot, secretary-treasurer. The representatives elected to serve on the council from the Senior, Junior, Sopho- more and Freshman classes are, respectively: Mary Ann Jones, Glenna De Bord, Mary Elizabeth Pennington, Geraldine Potter, Mava Sutphin, Mary Frances Johnston, Clara Graybeal, Lois Ann Currin, Margaret Snuffer, Evelyn Bracey, Mariam Dorman and Irma Parker. The presidents elected to serve as representatives from Norwood, Madame Russell and Tyler dormitories are, respectively: Sarah Hackworth, Sue Roberts and Rowena Albert. Nova McGrady, president of the Honor Council, also serves as a member of the Student Council.
