pw On Christmas Eve in 1964 Mrss Carroll was sitting by her cozy fire anxiously awaiting dear Santas arrival Miss Carroll s sixth grade carrollers had planned to srng this eve ning but since it was such a rainy night she decided to con cel it Also she wanted to see if Santa had fulfilled her order for a husband In the meantime she was sorting her Christ mas cards from the 1954 Seniors The first card she came across was postmarked Nov 15th She had yust received it but you know lt takes a long time to get mail from Switzerland Pictured atop the snow capped Alps was Lilra Avila in her latest Swedish Yodel er creation She didnt make the Grand Opera and was therefore lrvmg her life in seclusion embittered against her unfaithful fans but she is now one of Swedens most prominent designers Eagerly opening the next envelope she noticed that the card was from Lee Arthur and Gayle Pasley who were now widely known for their great success in modeling Birdleg Hosiery Gayle has obtained more men admirers than ever' In Jeanne Boykin s card there were locks of hair which had been accidentally dropped while being cut at her stylish Mop Shop Jeanne is now quite successful in the wig busmess As we all well remember Susan Boone was great with the finger antics Her card had a picture of a milk cow on it which was quite proper since Sue rs now an mdus Next came a card from the worldly Miss Poo Poo Dillard who is the teen age advisor for Blue Confessions Miss Dillard has obtained hundreds of earnest admirers and she accredits her success to her invaluable Radford background After opening this card Miss Carroll stopped to see that the fire was not getting too hot ln case Santa should be scorched when he came with her anticipated gift Set tlmg down again she picked up a peculiar looking enve lope from Sum Fun China immediately realizing from the name this was to be from those slightly askew old maid missionaries Ruthie Fulwrler and Avon Westbrook They had been exiled from the US for cattle stealing quite a few years ago The famed Ann Sebastian using the pen name of Cal rco Cowgirl also sent a card along with her latest book Texas Slim Rides Again Her secretary Martha Lips comb added a postscript saying their next book would be on tropical bird calls The most ambitious Jackie Spearman is still striving for her second million after giving up on the first She has finally acquired one lifelong ambition however and that rs taking good ole Marrlyns place in being elected Ditch Digger s Dynamite Even Nancy Offutt had time from her extensive tour ing to drop Miss Carroll a card It appears in the news paper that Nancy has made quite a reputation for herself by singing torch songs with Georgie s Jazz Band From the laboratory of Harvard U came a note from Margarita Chavez She wanted to assure everyone that shes not IN the bottle being studied but is learning what is THROUGH her specialized anatomy course Miss Carroll was surprised to learn from another card that Sandra Van de Kreeke and Margie Hrmes had finally caught their men The last she had heard they were serious ly considering being recruits for Aunt Agathas Old Maid Home A gayly decorated card came from Juarez Mexico-Oh yes this one was from Sue Mott Her time rs divided be tween being master of ceremonies at the Dragnet and directing Tortilla manufacturing Lucila Blancas card had pictured on it beautiful horses with Lucrlas fair face rn the middle of them She is now the Groanmg Groom s Association of the Polo Paddock and every Saturday afternoon you ll find her waiting faith fully for her ardent admirers on the Polo Team Tita Stockmeyers card had pictured on it a group of boys watching Tita mtently as she reads them a story She is now the house mother of the Jovial Juvemle De lmquent Home Then Miss Carroll opened the next envelope and was surprised to see holly leaves fall out Oh' these werent holly leaves but the dues from the 54 Seniors Our dear class treasurer couldnt part with it before now Jackie Mott also enclosed a little note tellmg about her successful Job in inventing non breakable piggy banks It had been a long time since Miss Carroll had re ceived any news from Virginia Pritchard who is now the and horse stables Virginia has been getting along qui e well and has thoroughly been enyoyrng herself during the past years Again one of her seniors took time to send a card It was from Jan Peppers now co starring with Jack Benny as lst violinist for his show She has been domg very well in show busmess and if you happen to read the name Janenska Peppera under dazzlmg lights lust remember it is our same old sweet Janice Next Miss Carroll saw a card from Mexico Cnty Ah yes Grace Vaca Even though she owns a successful taxi sta tron it seems Grace hasnt really been domg too well be cause yust as she gets a little money ahead she runs into another statue At the bottom of the pile Miss Carroll fommd an enve lope postmarked South Bend It seems that Pat Ray has worked herself up to manager of the football team The team s success this year was due to Pats ability rn getting them to follow orders Keeping her company are Mr and Mrs Leo Momsen During the few years Sarah has been happily raising children and tellmg Leo how to be a law professor Just then Miss Carroll heard a thumping at the door She opened it and found a note from Santa Next year for sure' Then she sighed happily vxent back to her fire went to sleep and dreamt of the good times at RSG . !
