The Cats, led by Wayne Nottingham, Frank Scott, Russell Allen, Dickie Wall, Bill Akers, and Sammy Pack, were undefeated in regular season play, walking over district competition. The highlights of the season were hard earned victories over Jefferson and Altavista, out of District opponents. Sporting a record of fourteen wins and no defeats, the netmen journeyed to Harrisonburg for the Western Regional Finals. There, they were beaten 7—2 by a fine Harrisonburg team. Sammy Pack, who was the lone Cat undefeated in singles play, won his singles match, while the stalward team of Scott and Nottingham picked up the other point in doubles play.
