Preszdent P0516 Amos Vzce Preszdent Edward Shanklm Secretary Sh1rley McCraw Treasurer C B Morgan R IITO EIGHTH GRADE 11953 543 On September 8 1953 we the class of 1958 cllmbed the steps of RH S for the flrst tlme and were greeted by our prlncxpal Robert C Glbson The year was marked by our adJust1ng to our new lxfe and xdentlfled wlth us was our loyalty to our school The varsxty football record was s1x w1ns three losses and one t1e and the varslty basketball record was ten wm and ten losses We the elghth graders were seen at evely event cheermg our school to v1ctory Our class was represented on the S C A when Jean Arthur was elected treasurer As we fmlshed our elghth grade year we unlocked the gate to success and now we had four years ID whlch we could trv to push lt open FRESHMAN C1954 553 We began our Freshman year feellng that we now were a part of thc school At the end of our exghth grade year we had elected J1mm1e John son Janet Lovern and Peggy Crabtree as our Freshman Class Ofiicers Durmg the football sea son whlch placed the Radford H1 Bobcats among the undefeated we celebrated Homecommg and our class sponsored Patty Blrd Peggy Crabtree and Allce Ratcllffe on the Homecommg Court Our basketball season was not so successful be cause we only won seven games and lost eleven At the end of the year the tudents elected Sharon Salyer Secretary of the SCA SOPHOMORE C1955 567 We contmued to push Iorward the gate when we began our sophomore vear We elected Edward Shankl1n Eddle Wlllxams and Allce Ratclxffe as our class oflicers The varslty football team won five games lost two and tled two The varslty basketball team won fourteen games losmg only sxx On January 20 the Reverend Bob Rlchards the Olvmplt Polevaultlng Champ1on spoke to us 1n a speclal assembly Thls year Radford was host to the All State Chorus Tony Glesen Gene Glbson Grey Bowles and Bonme Furrow were members of our class who partlclpated Bob Mxller was clted 1n the f1eld of scxence when he won the Sclence Falr We felt our class was gammg memorable recogmtxon when Harrxett Shaner and Pat Davls were added to the Cheerleadmg Squad B111 Gemmlll was chosen Vxce Presxdent of the SCA The gate was now opened half way only two years remamed m our hlgh school career JUNIOR C 1956 373 We had come a long way slnce September 1953 but the path was gettmg rough and rocky Posle Amos J1mm1e Johnson C B Morgan and Peggv Crabtree were elected as our class officers Ou1 sports record was a faxrly good one The var S1tV football team won SIX games los1ng only four The varsity basketball team won twelve games and lost seven Two members of the class of 58 were elected to head varlous clubs Janet Lovern was , Q - , , , Y 1 1 L ' . . .
