.E IOR CLASS HI TORY SENIORS Our footprints on the sands of time had taken shape. We cooperated with our president, Spud Howell, and concentrated our efforts on squeezing out the undesirable depressions and making the impressions smooth, deep and preeminent. It was a common sight to see Mickie Runion, President of the S.C.A., scurrying around trying to keep in order the affairs of the student body. We were among the leaders of Radford High School. Many of the clubs and organizations were headed by competent Seniors. With her forceful interpretation of democracy, Carol Hud- dle won the I Speak For Democracy contest. Bobby Alderman, Spudl' Howell, Tommy Man- non, and Rodney Umberger were chosen as the football co-captains. Carol Copko and Bobby Alderman graciously reigned over the Homecom- ing Dance and festivities. We spent glorious mo- ments at slumber parties after the games these are transitory moments golden memories Gayle Simpson received the D A R Good Citi zenship Award Lillie Sowers wrote a winning essay and received several catalogs from Stephens College. Carol Huddle portrayed the Madonna in the Christmas Pageant, our Mixed Chorus ap- peared on television and again sang for the Ro- tary Convention. Our class was well represent- ed at All State Chorus, West. Judy Hall received the Betty Crocker Homemaking Award, and Peggy Dean participated in the American Legion Oratorical Contest. The G.A.A. chose Faye Brooks the 1957 Sweetheart to reign over the Sweetheart Ball. Frank Grayson, Hoot Gibson, and Rodney Umberger were the basketball co- captains. We won 11 and lost 5 games in regular season playg and, thus, won a berth in the dis- trict tournament. We were measured for our caps and gowns: we ordered our invitations, and we exchanged calling cards with our classmates. There were the last minutes rushes of the Prom C Ebbtide J, final exams, parties, and the annual. On June second we marched down the aisle of Radford High School for the last time as Seniors to re ceive our diplomas and awards As we said goodbye with sad hearts to Radford High School and reluctantly left behind our impressions on the sands of time we were reminded that Not enjoyment and not sorrow ls our destined end of way But to act that each tomorrow Finds us farther than today SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS if 'N 1 -'s '14 .mln sgi f President Spud Howell Secretary Faye Brooks Vice President Hoot Gibson Treasurer Judy Anfm
