12 . . THE 1938 OAK LEAF . . SENIOR PLAY HOLD EVERYTHING Christopher Morgan, a successful banker, has set his heart on a match between his daughter, Connie, and Courtney Barret, the son of an old friend. Connie doesn’t like this plan and when she learns that Courtney is coming to visit her, she runs away. Her friend, Bee Williams, goes with her, and when the play opens, they are stopping at a tourist home for the night. There Connie meets a strange young man and an infatuation on the part of the young man ensues. In the meantime, Connie’s father, who has discovered her flight, starts off in pursuit of her, and when his car breaks down near the tourist home, he too decides to remain there over night. Two strange men arrive soon after with a mysterious bag, followed by another man who seems to be in pursuit of them. Connie hears that her father’s bank has been robbed but hesitates on telling her father. Early the next morning the two mysterious men with the bag, which the colored maid finds contains money, try to escape but the other man who turns out to be a detective catches them and recovers the money that was robbed from Mr. Morgan’s bank. When Connie learns the identity of the young man a reconciliation takes place and everybody lives happily ever after except the robbers, who spent a term in jail.
