The maior setback in reputation that was encountered by Radford a few years ago caused the school's morale to sink to a low ebb. The administration and teachers have worked hard to give the necessary guidance to build our reputation to its present high level. The students of Radford have taken upon themselves to help the school earn the reputation that it now enioys: that Radford is an outstanding school among the other great schools. The many service proiects that the students have undertaken are typical of the de- sire to do good: visiting the patients at Tripler Army Hospital, the fashion show that was put on for charity, the book drive, the five-day walk-a-thon for the Senior Patio, the Books for Rad- ford bake sale put on by sophomores, and the canned food drive. T'he same desire to do things for the good of Radford prevails in scholastic work and in sports. The lyrics of the Alma Mater pre- sent this pride and loyalty that Radford students feel toward their school. It is because of this that the Alma Ma- ter was chosen as the theme of the 1963 Ka Poe Aea .Zi 27, , ..-H, Y ill 47' fm, ' i'il,?l fi' .-L,? fl, ll . ff an gf ff . . , . , f f., , , I 'Wi i',' 4 'Y f , . if . 421 ff , J f ff! ff? The junior homecoming float was- a beauty! All W of theia events were we attended by persons of all classes and even some old grads, The Junior Pro was the highlight of the social year. On the whole the underclassmen seem to be a capable group to entrust the leadership of the school. The varsity teams as a whole, have done better than they were expected to perform. So many good players were lost either through graduation or service transfer that it was like starting from scratch, but the boys put up a good fight. We were right there, urging them, Go, RAMS, Cro! The varsity teams: basket- ball, baseball, track, and swimming fought hard for the honors that they won this year. Although they were out-clas sed many times, they always fought to the full- est of their ability to uphold the honor and the traditions of the RAMS. Remember the yell?. . . Yea, RAMS! Yea! Yep, we were right there cheering them on. Aloha, William Q--...H .-H-.,f--. -er-an--x -f 'E-f1LEfQ'fS3:T3g'?7 3k'l77f3?F?F ... ..i.,,,f ...la all Q wi. Seniors Alma ln looking back aT The various proiecTs The seniors underfook, one finds a common obiecTive in every underrakingz To improve Radford, To make our Alma Ma- Ter an ouTsTandingly good school. Several enrhusiasfic sTudenTs and Teachers of The senior class have generously poured much of Their Time, efforT, and ingenuiTy inTo making such proiecfs as The walk-a-Thon for The paTio, The book drive for The school library, and The VarieTy Show successful. The Walk-a-Thon included Two groups of boys who sTarTed from opposiTe direcTions and walked compleTely around The island of Oahu. This was done as a cam- paign kickoff To raise money for The senior paTio. The senior homerooms conTribuTed Their parT by organizing money-mak- ing projects. Due To The inadequacy of Radford's library, a book drive was organized by several enThu- siasTic seniors. Thousands of books were collecTed after can- vassing hundreds of homes. Seniors as well as some under- classmen parTicipaTed in This proiecT, which proved To be very successful. l i l l i 1 Ml ll l'v Work For Mater The seniors showed their will- ingess to work together. But ta- culty support was also a major part of the success of the proi- ects. Generously, teachers spent much time on the book drive and the patio. Encouragement played a vital part in keeping the enthusiasm alive, and from what greater source could this be obtained than from respected teachers. An outstanding senior class proiect was the variety show, Backstage Two capable sen- iors chaired this activity, which was open to the student body as well as the public. All the plan- ning, rehearsing, and publicity brought good results, as the au- dience enioyed the show yery much. 4 ' it r lx xg xr, X Y s I dltli lf ' P i 4. iw 'JK ' 'tl '7 x, ,.
