Denman Jr, has commanded RADFORD since July 1967, coming to the HUK KING after serving on the staff of the Commander in Chief, Pacific. Commander Denman, of Nacogdoches, Texas, began his Naval career in 1942 as an enlisted man and was commissioned eleven years later in the first integration class at Officer Candidate School, Newport Rhode Island. Subsequently he received his B,A, degree at the University of Texas. A veteran of 25 years of Naval service, Commander Denman has served in a vari- ety of ships and staffs, including assign- ments as Oper ations Officer of USS RUPERTUS and Commanding Officer of USS EPPERSON and the Fleet Tug, USS NIPMOC. ECUTI GFFICER Commander Robert A. Mesler has served as Executive Officer of RADFORD since March 1967. The Commander reported from duty on the staff of Commander in Chief, Pacific Fleet. Commander Mesler, a veteran of 15 years Naval service, received his B,S, degree from Susquehanna University and was commissioned in 1953 upon graduation from Officer Candidate School, He has also received his M.S. degree from the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School. The Commander has had a distinguished career with assignments to several different My types of ships including, USS CANBERRA nf' and USS GRIDLEY. His duties aboard RADFORD and his zeal in carrying them out have helped make this an enjoyable cruise for all hands. a,,,.-fdhiulpp.
