'PvyfiAectf May 31, 1971 Dear Carmen: As you were unable to attend the Alumni Banquet because of your trip to Europe concerning your duties as the Dean of Women at Rio Grande College, I thought you might be interested in hearing what our former classmates are doing. Nancy Johnson, who attended art school in New York, has settled at Racine. Lucille Norris and Janice Drake are also in Racine, employed as bookkeepers at the First National Bank. Those who have gone into politics are Sam Price, who has recently been elected Senate Minority Leader, and Bill Lake, the new State Attorney General. Charles Salser is campaign manager for Robert Graham, the distinguished incumbent Mayor of Racine. We have several highly honored friends, as Linda Roush Beegle who was recently chosen to the Typewriting Hall of Fame, Kenda and Floyd Chapman were given the Nobel Peace Prize for their work on the foreign spy ring, and Dr. Ruth A. Petrel has just established a space station on the moon. Dale Cole's R.C.A. Electronic Computer is now on the market and Carl Walten's book on parliamentary Procedure has replaced ROBERT'S RULES OF ORDER. Several members of our class have pursued unique careers. Elizabeth Ours is a potato chip taster for the Mister Bee Company; Shirley Miller and Karen Theiss are circus artists; Roger Birch has gone north to Alaska; Shirley Van Meter is an interior decorator and Ruth Triplett has finally made the Olympic Tomato Packing Team. I suppose you have seen the play, MY FAVORITE REDHEAD, starring Marlyn Donahue and produced by Robert Harden, Lois Arnott, and Joyce Circle. The Sun Sisters new record, Shine is currently a best seller, and our own Melvin Howard is an understudy for Elvis Presley. Some of those in the professional field are Jim Pape, who is working in Las Vegas; Lynn Shuler, a pilot for T.W.A.; Miriam Foster, a stewardess for the same line; Joe Brinker and Randy Norris, who manage the Arthur Munay Studios; Carolyn Van Meter, a very successful florist; and Jo Ann Van Meter, who is the Governor's private secretary. Donna Brewer, Barbara Smith, Sue Stobart, Linda Hayman, and Sue Harris are all serving in the Women's Army Corp, while Charles Spaun and Charles Holter are now with the French Foreign Legion. We do have some family people in our class. Among them are Reta Miller Hill, Mary Johnson O'Connor, and Linda Wilt Hubbard, who, incidentally, also manages a chain of well known beauty salons. Ronnie Beegle, Jim Wickline, Bill Arnott, Elmer Cozart, and Mac Van Meter are all test drivers for General Motors; Johnny Grueser is a traveling evangelist; Jim Donley is a news reporter for the COLUMBUS DISPATCH; Joyce Parsons is chief cook at the Maramour Restaurant; and Joyce Gloeckner Howard is head nurse in a California Hospital. Gerald Hart and Otto Jarrell have moved west and they own a successful ranch. Bill McKelvey is Head Basketball Coach at Ohio State University. I am still teaching at North High School in Columbus. Well, Carm, we certainly were lucky to have graduated with such a successful class. I hope that we can all be together ten years from now at the 1981 Alumni. Sincerely, Patsy Price
