I picked up the Racine Evening Dispatch and I was surprised to see that so many of my former classmates made the headlines: Carole Bachtel has just successfully launched the first rocket to the moon. Allen Middleswart was the famous pilot on that expedition. To my surprise Lynn Beegle and Mary Euler just tied for the Indianapolis 500. George Connolly was the announcer of the event. Others in the sport's page were: Tom Chapman and Jerry Dailey are the United States delegates for the Olympics. Franklin Brinker, the great baseball player has been traded by the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Chicago White Sox. Robert Lewis the great boxer is scheduled to box at the Racine Stadium. He is managed by our own Robert Theiss. Don Weese is the 'tar basketball player for the New York Knickerbachers. Back on the home front in sports, Bob Wingett is coaching the red hot Tornadoes. The girls' gym teacher is none other than Mary Findley. I read further and found that Mary Harris is the Dean of Women at Ohio University. The Dean of Men at the University is Charles Shain. His secretary is Kathryn Pierce. Many of our 1960 grads turned to a musical career. We have several Rockettes, managed by Harold McClaskey, Kathryn Bailes, Carol Deem and Rebecca Ward. Robert Smith now takes the place of Lawrence Welk and his Music Makers and his new Champagne Lady is Willadene Randoph Smith. Margie Stobart, Mary Grace Stobart, and Saradelle Rees are in the chorus line at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Robert Weddle and Richard Shuler are the heads of the Tinkle Toes Dancing Studio in Racine. Sue and Don Beegle are making a name for themselves in the field of selling Volkswagen. Raymond Rowe is their mechanic. Some of our grads are abroad. Donna Case is a missionary in the Belgian Congo. Patty Roush Pape is in Africa with her husband John Pape. She is a big game hunter. Admiral Jerry Lee is stationed somewhere in the Pacific. Donna Neville has joined the Wacs and is expecting a big promotion sometime in 1971. The Grads of 1960 have chosen some odd professions. John Cleland and Edward Hay man are morticians in Ewing's Funeral Home. John Motley is the director of the new Racine Zoo. Karon Roush and Shirley Hill are the executive heads of the New York Modeling Agency. Phyllis Kiser and Wanda Cornell are the head mechanics of the Racine Garage. Those who have chosen a literary career are: Barbara Grimm writes the gossip column for Snoopy Magazine in Hollywood. Louise Fisher writes the lovelorn column for the New York Times. Don Weese is the editor for the Racine Evening Dispatch. Two of his reporters are Lois Graham and Kay McClintock. Sheila Young is a roving reporter for the Columbus Evening Dispatch. Other members of our 1960 class are: Paula Hart is the new MGM starlet. Ann Proctor is Mrs. America for 1970. Karen Holter is the head cook at the Waldorf Estoria which is owned by Donna Henry. Marilyn Rice Williamson and Dorothy Circle Harden have settled down to a calm family life. Chris Pickens, the young mother, who attended school with us is now working in the office at Racine High. Alfred Toney is our newly elected President of the United States. Joyce Carson is the first lady Vice-President. Several other of the '60 grads are in the President's cabinet, Jackie Wigal, Leroy Wolfe, and Melvin Roush. My how the 1960 grads have scattered. I wonder if we will ever see one another again.
