The Parent Teachers Associations of our district work toward the objectives of the school. They conduct money-raising projects which are used to elevate the standards of the school. This last year, the groups assisted in passing a levy for a new high school building to be built near Racine, the focal point. Portland Racine Letart Officers of the PTA groups are, RACINE: President, Pauline Johnson; Vice-President, Helen Arnott; Secretary, Kathleen Morris; Treasurer, Neva Bailey. PORTLAND GROUP: Louise Brewer, President; Jean Sayre, Vice-President; Letha Proffitt, Secretary; Maxine Durst, Treasurer. SYRACUSE GROUP: Irene Grueser, President; Doris Grueser, Vice-Chairman; Irene Parker, Secretary; Mary Lisle, Treasurer. LETART GROUP: Mary Roush, President; Ramona Yonkers, Vice-President; Jane Hill, Secretary; Esther Sylvester, Treasurer. Syracuse Bus drivers who deliver students directly to our high school take time out for us to get a picture. Throughout our district, there are bus drivers who do not deliver directly to our high school, but transport students to Letart, Portland and Syracuse schools, too. Jed Pickens, our custodian, is our right-hand man in our activities at school. He is always here to open the building or any other chore needed during our evening functions. Many students ride a bus to a certain location, then transfer to another bus. Approximately five hundred ninety miles are covered each day. 4
