According to the custom, we were initiated at the Freshmen Sophomore Reception. From the first six-week honor roll, we elected Larry Badgley, president; Maralyn Cleland, vice-president; Donna Circle, secretary-treasurer; reporter, Janice Wolfe. To finance the expenses of the freshmen initiation in 1954, we sold magazines and paid ninety cents dues. The next year 1954, out of a class of seventy, we elected Dwain Sayre, president; Robert Birch, vice-president; Clyde Johnson, secretary-treasurer. That year we sold miscellaneous articles and initiated the freshmen. In 1954, after a short summer vacation, sixty juniors returned to elect David Hysell, president; Maralyn Cleland, vice-president; Dwain Sayre, secretary-treasurer; and Robert Euler, business manager. Highlights were selling magazines, Spring Festival, ice-cream social, and the Junior play, “Ote for the Money.” Our senior class membership has decreased to forty-six. Our chosen officers were; Robert Euler, president; Dwain Sayre, vice-president; Phyllis File, secretary-treasurer; and Janice Wolfe, business manager. To finance the trip, we had a Fall Festival, produced “The Racina,” sold stationery and concessions at basketball games and gave our Senior play. Now as our high school days are past, there’s sincere regret in our hearts as we bid the teachers, the students, and the school.... farewell. 15 LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the following Seniors bequeath the specified possessions to the underclassmen indicated: LARRY BADGLEY: his deck of cards to Jack Weese. I made my arrangements immediately for the trip and then got in my jet-mobile and headed for the air station where I boarded the U-235 Rocket. On the way I glanced through my newspaper and read that the Lavender Legs among whom were Douglas Graham and Bob Birch, were playing their final baseball game of the season in Confederate Stadium. My first stop was Racine, Ohio. I met several 1957 classmates. Among them were Mildred Triplett, the RHS secretary; David Hysell, RHS Vo-Ag instructor; and Dwain Sayre, his assistant; Mrs. Joan Pickens, house wife and mother to seven lovely children, and Carroll Harris, a success-fill barber. That evening I attended the premier of “Show Girl,” starring June Proffitt. Some of the cast members who were originally from Racine were Glenna Randolph, Shirley Ward, Larry Holter, Kenneth Brewer as dancers, and Yolan Rhodes, Tom Curtis, Harold Faber, Dick Young and Theodore Willford as other acting personnel. Again I boarded my Rocket and headed for Los Vegas, where I met Miss Emma Lee Brewer and Mr. Larry Badgley who jointly operate the “You Bet Your Life Cassino.” While dining in the Sweet Room on 12th Avenue, I met Mrs. Steve Jacobs, formerly Miss Wanda Roush, and her husband. Avis Theiss and Geneveive Snyder own and operate a dude ranch near Los Vegas. In St. Louis, I was invited to attend a luncheon, sponsored by the Artists and Writers Club, whose members include Mrs. Donald Hayman, magazine illustrator; Miss Maralyn Cleland, editor of the love-lorn column of the St. Louis Dispatch. Among the honored guests were Miss Janice Wolfe, U.S. Attorney General; Miss Donna Circle, the noted advisor on elementary education, and Mr. Robert Euler, chief engineer for Clement Brothers Construction Company. Then I journeyed over to the Indianapolis speedway to see Clyde Johnson in his daring auto exhibition. He was assisted by his head mechanics, Bill Harden and Wayne Rowe. As I neared my office on Fifth Avenue, I noticed a mob of women gathered around three handsome Broadway Stars. As I came closer, I saw Dermie Hill and James Deem, dramatic actors, and Dale Whitlock, the famous comedian, signing autographs. As I rounded a comer, I saw Don Johnson and Jack Chapman, who recently returned from the international plowing match in Belgium. Oi my first evening back home, my husband and I attended the heavyweight Championship Boxing Match between Lester Manuel and Laurence Grimm. Of course, I need not tell you who won the match. Claudia Shields and Betty Sellers were manager and trainer of the new heavyweight champion. Congratulations on your latest hit, The Piano Rhapsody.” I am sure that you will sell more than a million records of it.
