% • “ V DEDICATION The Senior Class dedicates this annual to Mr. Carl B. Weese who has been our friend and advisor. Without his aid, the many projects undertaken by the Seniors would not have been successful. Mr. Weese received his B.S. in Education from Ohio University. Thirteen of his twenty-nine years of teaching have been spent at Racine High School, where he teaches all social science subjects. By this dedication the Seniors would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mr. Weese. General Science Chemistry Vocational Agricu! Clean-up Play Practice The Queen Bookkeeping The Coach HISTORY In September, 1950, sixty-two Freshmen entered Racine High School. For a lew weeks this was a new and exciting experience. Soon we were welcomed by the “Freshmen Reception,” and we no longer felt strange. From the first six-weeks’ honor roll we elected for our class officers: Loretta Davis, President; Alice Fisher, Vice-President; and Norman Roush, Secretary-Treasurer. After a short summer vacation, we returned with a class of forty-eight members. We elected for our Sophomore class officers: Ronnie McDade, President; Buddy Cundiff, Vice-President; and Lowell Salser, Secretary-Treasurer. Our highlight of the year was the “Freshmen Reception.” With fourty-four Juniors, we elected Norman Roush, President; Lowell Salser, Vice-President; Ronnie McDade, Secretary-Treasurer; and Marlene Shields, Business Manager for our class officers. We produced our Junior Class Play entitled “Love Your Neighbor,” sponsored a donkey basketball game, sold stationery, and conducted other money-making campaigns for a trip. Now, we are Seniors! We have a class of thirty-five, after losing one member the first six-weeks of school. We elected to lead us during our Senior year: Marlene Shields, President; Ronnie McDade, Vice-President; Norman Roush, Secretary-Treasurer; and Alice Fisher, Business Manager. During our four years, Barbara Roush has served as Class Reporter. Our first activity of the year was sponsoring a Fall Festival, of which Bonnie Badgley, Senior Class Representative, was chosen queen. Other projects were: selling candy and pop at basketball games, selling stationery, magazines, and various other articles, editing a yearbook, and producing our Senior Class Play, “The Little Dog Laughed.” During our school years, several members of the class have played on the basketball and baseball teams. Also members have won various scholastic awards for the school and themselves. CLASS PROPHECY Dear Barbara, How do you like being a doctor? I’m so glad that your clinic is successful, but I am sorry that you couldn't come to the Tenth Annual Reunion of the of the Class of ’ 54. There were so many of our old Classmates there that I was really surprised. Here is just a small idea of what it was like: I saw Brian Simpson, the hottest jazz drumer of all times, sitting one out with his wife Bonnie (Badgley). She sings with his band. She certainly looked stunning. I caught a glimpse of that Continental Romeo, Franklin Lewis, in white tie and tails, chatting with Shirley Powell and Betty Rose. Both girls are famous circus artists. I talked with Dr. Ronald McDade and his lovely wife, Loretta (Davis). They both were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for the work in the international spy ring. Shelva Arnott is a dramatic actress of stage, screen, and television. She was talking shop with Larry Wolfe, better known as Fooze. Do you know that he is rapidly becoming a wonderful Comedian? The big entrance of the evening was when Miss America came in. It was none other that our own Jane Gilmore. She is a florist by trade. She had on a gown decorated with real orchids of her own. I noticed Donna Holter and Madgle McNickle were talking together. I went over to chat with them. They are dieticians at John Hopkins Hospital. The President was unable to attend but his lovely wife Alice Fisher came and made the address. She recalled some of her high school memories. The walls of the Country Club were covered with paintings by Joyce Hart After several years of art school in New York, she has Finally settled down in Racine. Sharlene Deem talked to me about her job. She works on the “GLO” Airlines. Those are owned by George (Lynn) Offutt. She is a stewardess.. The Rev. and Mrs. Paul Lawrence arrived late. They have been having baby-sitting problems. She is Mary Lou Lemaster. I noticed Norman Roush was chatting with Lowell Salser. Both are Married. They, of course, were talking agricultural science. Norman is one of the best scientists and Lowell owns a large ranch and about half of Racine. Shirley Stobart McGraw is still a Powers Model. How she manages to run a home and work at the same time seems impossible to me. She’s really very beautiful. Marlene Clark Hill lives close to her and they both were talking homes and making plans for a dinner together. Marlene is a model, too. Gary Parsons was there in all his splendor. He is better known as “The Rock” in the wrestling world. He was wearing his heavy-weight championship belt. Oscar Badgley is his manager and trainer. Oscar manages some of the greatest in the world. Earl Cleek is farming at Portland and is quite successful. He shows cattle at every National fair. Buddy Cundiff is also at all the fairs with his FFA boys. He teaches at Racine High School. Charles Hensler runs his ROTC at the high school. He is a commissioned officer in the Army. James Johnson, amazingly enough, is teaching American Government at Racine High. Mary Oiler is a nurse at one of the major hospitals around here. She also does a lot of specializing. Phyllis Van Meter is teaching Home Economics at Racine. She has won several big awards. Dorsel Wilson and Dale Johnson are both top mechanics. They own a “String” of garages a mile long. They have the biggest in Racine. That’s a-bout all that were there. I noticed that the whole class turned out. We all missed you very much. It certainly would have been more pleasing if you had made the after-diner address. Well, I must close, I have to pack for the trip home. Home to me is an Army base. We are stationed in Colorado now but soon we are to move to Alaska. I’ll write again soon.. Yours, Marlene Fisher LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the Senior Class of Nineteen Hundred Fifty-four of Racine High School being of sound mind and memory, do make, publish, and declare, this our last will and testament in manner and form as follows: FIRST: We leave the Senior Home Room to our successors.
