Chapman Benediction The Auditorium was decorated by members of the Junior Class this year, in the absence of the usual aid of the local garden club. The Juniors also acted as ushers for Eaccalaureate and Commencement Services. ATHLETICS The Varsity baseball team,with daily practices and one game with Wahama, has had a very ligh 3eascn compared with the past. This year is planned to be just a holding on plan until in the future when travel conditions are better. The squad has been composed of Seniors Clarence Miller (Captain), Buddy Simpson, and Delbert Smith; Juniors Bob Grimm, Floyd Hoback, Jack Shank, and Ed Ihle; Sophomores Glen Hensler and Norman Arnott; and Freshmen James Circle, Russell Grimm, and Robert Hart, In September, 1939, sixty-one frightened freshmen entered high school and after a stiff initiation, the following officers were elected from the 36 girls and 25 boys: President------Thelma Ours Vice-Pres.---- Pauline nlexandei Sec'y-Treas.-—Betty Hoback The greeness having worn off the next year, we gave a reception for the freshmen. The officers mainly responsible, with the help of the 33 girls and 27 boys, were: President------Mabel Worthington Vice-Pres.-----Eetty Hoback Sec'y-Treas.---Bud Simpson The Junior year was the busiest of all. With the help of the 48 pupils left (16 boys and 32 girls) including officers: President------Bud Simpson Vice-Pres.-----Betty Hoback Sec'y.-Treas.—Mildred Talbott Business Mgr.--Marjorie Boyd Our trip to Cincinnati was a success. Now we are Seniors. Our class has decreased from 61 Freshmen to 35 Seniors. Due to the present war v e are unable to have our annual. Our last officers are: President------Betty Hoback Vice-Pres.-----Mabel Worthington Sec'y.-Treas.--Bud Simpson TROPHY CASE • A beautiful new trophy case is resting in the main hall, a gift of the Class of 1942. The funds for the purchase of the case were left by last year's class, but the material was just recently made available. Housing our twenty-eight Championship trophies, it will soon be completed with a modern lighting system.
