A RESUME’ In September 103f . seventy-six Freshmen were enrolled in Racine High School. As ordinary Freshmen, we were very busy the first semester getting accustomed to our new surroundings. At the first class meeting Ruth Lee was elected President; Ralph Johnson. Vice-president; and Wilda Mayes. Secretary-Treasurer. We had two parties that year, having an enjoyable time at each one. The next year as Sophomores, we had much more confidence in ourselves. Our class had decreased to sixty-eight members. For officers we elected June Hayman. President; Emma Jean Carmichael. Vice-president; and Derrell Sayre. Secretary-Treasurer. Many of us took part in the County Music Festival, an outstanding event of that season. Soon we were Juniors, busier than ever, with Burl Ashley as President; June Hayman as Vice-president and William Holman as Secretary-Treasurer. We honored the departing Seniors with a colorful Prom in the Auditorium. One of our classmates. Thanet Barnitz. made an excellent record in the Scholarship Tests in French. Then, suddenly we found ourselves Seniors. The year had scarcely started when we were saddened by the tragic death of June Farra, one of our most active members. We chose Daryl Johnson. President; Thanet Barnitz. Vice-president; and William Holman. Secretary-Treasurer. The girls took a predominating part in music while the boys were prominent in our Varsity athletic teams. With the approach of spring, we began pointing happily towards Commencement. Now as Racine High School becomes a happy memory to forty-nine of us, we trust that each one will remember our motto, “Not at the Top. but Climbing” so that some day it might be said of some of us “Not Climbing, but at the Top.” COMPLIMENTS EWING FUNERAL HOME Pomeroy, Ohio 17
