Junior Class History In the fall of 1936, there was admitted into Racine Sutton High School, one of the largest classes ever enrolled. Not only one of the largest but also one of the Mfreshestl' of the freshie classes, we came to seek whatever knowledge there could be found. We elected as our officers, the following: President, Ruth Leeg Vice- President, Ralph Johnsong Secretary-Treasurer, Wilda Maye.s. In the spring of 1937 we had weathered the storms of criticism from our upper classmen and came out successful with a class of seventy-three. When we re-entered school in the fall of 1937 several students had fallen by the wayside, but we were glad to add to our list. two former Pomeroy students, which made a total of sixty-eight. We elected as officers the following: President. June Hayman, Vice President, Emma Jean Carmichael, and Secretary-Treasurer, Derrell Sayre. The old saying that the third time is the charmv seems to have failed in our instance, for we entered school in the fall of 1938 with only fifty-nine. We elected the following officers: President, Burl Ashley, Vice-President, June Hayman, and Secretary-Treasurer, William Holman. Those officers probably had a harder task to accomplish than those of any other year, since on them falls the responsibility of planning the Junior--Senior Banquet, the most anticipated affair of our school life so far. This brings us up to the present time, the end of our Junior year with fifty- four students. And if fate is not against us, we, the Class of 1940, hope to be the largest class ever to be graduated from our beloved high school. -Thanet Barnitz
