The music department of the Southern Rural High School, under the direction of Mrs. Ix is Fling, gave its first performance November 20, 1936. In this program. “The Dixie Boys” were presented in the Southern Minstrels. The end men were Jim Marrs, Frank Cleland, Dwight Ross, and Ernest Teaford. Mr. Ben Philson was the interlocutor. The next program presented by the music department was a concert given April 8. 1937. This concert was given by the high school chorus consisting of ninety three voices. The most popular number on this program was a selection by the boys’ double quartet. page thirty
