Each student also makes a project with a Christmas theme for this popular event. The cafeteria is the scene of the traditional dances of the various countries. Dances such as the Can Can represent French culture, while the other countries are represented by their own traditional dances. Singing goes on all evening in all four languages in the main hall. This year the in style was very evident in Jean jackets, buttons, pins, jelly shoes, checked and striped jeans, mini-skirts, cropped pants, and sun glasses. Break-dancing became so popular that before school many students could be seen practicing their moves in the halls. The book 1984 by George Orwell was again in. On the movie scene, popular shows included Footloose, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Romancing the Stone, and Terms of Endearment. In music, Michael Jackson was on top with his album Thriller. The Footloose soundtrack was a hit. The album 1984 by Van Halen was also a huge success. Their concert was sold out within a few hours.
