Foreign Language Open House Exhibits Cultural Traditions The Annual Christmas Open House, sponsored by the foreign language department, was its usual success. The event was open to the community, and refreshments were served in the lobby. Projects and room decorations made by twelve hundred foreign language students were displayed in the rooms. Spanish projects consisted of pinatas, Mexican symbols on cloth and yarn art. French students made banners, stained glass windows, and wall decorations. Latin projects consisted of mosaics and wall decorations. For German classes, the projects were Christmas trees and banners with Christmas songs. Cultural dances were performed in the cafeteria and carols were sung in the main hall for entertainment. Every year the people who visit the Open House are able to view common holiday traditions from around the world. Christmas Open House 45
