[t Was For Panthers! No problem getting manpower, all the students will participate, so it would only stand to reason that we ' ll get enough volunteers. Good, how about funds for this project? What about Dances, and Candy sales? Right! And I ' m sure the community will back the school 100%. Seven months later an idea conceived by a few Student Council members was born, and the student body loved it. A chance to experience three days of unique free form educational classes was nothing to sneeze at. So, from March 27 until March 29, it was, Good-bye Einstein, hello Jacques Cousteau, )ulia Childs, and John Travolta, etc. Something For Everyone

There are over forty different classes and field trips packed into three exciting days. The students are going to register themselves into classes like: CPR, Cake Decorating, Fencing, Scuba Diving, Disco and Unicycling. Not to mention the field trips to businesses industries around Fort Wayne, Modeling agencies and cosmotology centers; Bowling, New- spaper Production etc. It ' s a hard decision, only picking four of the I1 2 hour classes. For something this different and special, the Student Council has to pick a unique name for this week. How about Experience 79, or something like that? Do you call that UNIQUE? Okay, why not call it Unique Week? What A UNIQUE WEEK Left to right: Elora Taylor and Parviz Hudda play Scrabble; Glen Gotlieb and Mark West play backgammon: Tim Colone prepares to bowl; Erin Keys smiles through a free hairstyling; Madonna Cornellison tries desperately to revive a half-hearted rescue in CPR class; Mark Maisonneuvc mounts his unicycle for a spin down the halls; cake decorating can be fun: everybody gets into the beat while dancing in Disco class, right Karen?

Plain And Fancy Captivates Audience This year ' s musical, Plain and Fancy, captured the hearts of all Panthers. Take a group of talented high school students, terrific choreo- graphy, spirited songs and a director like Mr. Tucker, a Pit director like Mr. Seeger, a choreographer like Mr. Clauser and the singing direction of Mr. Nicholas, and you can ' t help producing an excellent musical. Plain and Fancy is about a high class New York couple, portrayed by Leslie Venderly and Andy Weissert, who go to an Amish community to sell property they have inherited from a distant relative. They encounter all the customs and beliefs of the Amish sect, while humorous as well as touching circumstances occur. Mitzi Schmidt portrays a young Amish girl who is in love with Dave Getzin, but because of her father ' s wishes (Carl Sargent), she is being forced to marry Dave ' s brother, played by Mark Maisonneuve. Since Plain and Fancy was not an extremely well known musical, the Fine Arts Department went all out for publicity by catching a slogan from one of the songs - You Can ' t Miss It. And, many of the Panthers took that advice and saw the musical. Plain and Fancy played to full crowds all three nights. I ROW 1: Mr. Jim Clauser, Kelly Pierce, Ed Schlictenmever. Ruth Teetor.
