Just the Way You Are Jr. The class of 79 not only did a great job at planning the Prom, but they also provided the punch during the testivities. Smiles of joy spread across the faces of Cathi Norton and Tom Steller as Cathi is named Prom Queen for 1978. Dick Seeger, as in all the years past, provided the music for dancing. 24

No lights, but Rain Playing in sand during the wee hours of the morning may seem a bit strange to m any people, but to many panthers , it was a reality when every available person was called out to help sandbag and fortify the banks of the overflowing rivers. Besides all the diligent work, the waters closed off main bridges and some roads completely, as well as flooding near downtown residences. In the meantime, the coal strike was still in full force, causing Snider students to don heavier clothes and go through dark halls to sunlit class- rooms. Activities were cut to the minimum, but everyone pulled together and the ending was happy. Who says this wasn ' t a record breaking year? The longest coal strike ever, the flood and the big blizzard made 1978 exciting to say the least! Flicking the bic came in handy during the coal strike, as Senior Jim Magee finds out. 26
