The Tennis Cluh has had a measure uf success as more students in Paschal are playing than ever hefure and the different teams won their share of ll1e titles. Last year the following titles were won fur Paschal High School: Warren McMillan non the Boys' Singles in the City and District tourna- ments. and was runner-up in the Reginnal: Tmnmy Hill and Ed Viekery won the Boys' Douhles in City. District. and Region. and went to the tennis finals in the State Tournament: Mary ,lane Bullington wan the Cirlsi Singles in City and District. and Olive Rall and Rebecca Campsey won the Girls' Duulimles in the City. This year Warren and Mary lane again won for Paschal in their divisitms. while Betty ,lane Heard teamed with Olive tn win the Girls' Doulvles. Frank Lee and Jimmy lVlcCaul represented Paschal in Buys' Doulrles. Bill Darby. a player who has shmsed much pruniise. is expected tn play a large part in the cum- petitiun next year. HUHSEBAEK RIDING IILUB ...M , 4 Q S The purpose of the 'glues Cavaliers , the Paschal Horseback Riding Club. is to leach the pupils to ride. The club now has thirty-two student members and four faculty members. The beginners. middle. and advanced are the three divisions of this club. The beginners learn to handle the horse and ride the ring, while the middle and advanced classes are learning different forms of jumping. After a year's work the student is entitled to a test. part written and part performed on the horse. The seven outstanding members now qualihed to take the test are: Betty Bean, Mary Elizabeth Bonner. Lee Burger. Drusilla Cochran, Gary Southern. Shelby Smith, and Doris Welburn. Those who pass this test are qualified for permanent scholarship and will be presented with pins. Members are expected to attend every meeting and those who attend ten meetings are given arm- bands. The first group to receive arm-bands were Lee Burger. Nancy Bruner, Virginia Mayers, Betty Ann Minyard. Felicia Morse. Shelby Smith, Kelly Shryoc. Dick Stephens, Shirley Taylor.
