FoRE:vvoRD LEARN TODAY ...... LEAD TOMORROW With this motto emblazoned upon every building and fixed in the mind of each cadet, 486 Advanced Quartermaster ROTC cadets descended upon Fort Lee, Virginia on 25 June 1955. Determined to learn, the cadets flowed into previously pre- pared barracks to meet their summer camp instructors who were carefully selected to teach them. Then began the preliminary processing that led the cadet on an active continuing program of clothing issues, size exchanges, administrative processing and finally-a welcome bedding down in his home for the next six weeks. So, this is Army life -was the common thought of each cadet as he surveyed his surroundings. A good bed, good bunk-mates and excellent food soon began to make life more enjoyable. With the development of comradeship and the respect for military training, the change to a military way of life was made, with no misgivings. As the training began and individual participation increased, a new feeling of con- fidence surged through each cadet. Soon, hesitant cadets developed into firm, confident leaders and the entire training picture took on a valued outlook. Was the camp a success? This is the question to be resolved by looking back. A partial answer was indicated by the poised and trained cadets who departed their ROTC Summer Camp on 5 August 1955 to return to their universities and schools throughout the United States. -1.1---i. ..,..i .... --L.l.i.,. -i..-.ii ' -. - i 1-1 '.,... --ni - - 1... . ..
