Earsplitting comes to mind when remembering pep rallies - students screaming various chants at the top of their lungs, such as seniors, seniors or juniors, jun- iors!! At one pep rally, head foot- ball coach Charlie Lyles said, lt's not seniors, juniors, sophomores, or freshmen, it's L I O N S! Pep rallies are important spirit raisers for both the teams and the students, commented senior Susannah Webb. Some of the events nor- mally found at the pep rallies were the drum cadence, Lionette routines, familiar tunes played by the band, skits poking fun at the week- ly opponent, and the spirit competition. The spirit com- petition seemed to be a fa- vorite with the students this year, especially the fresh- men, considering all 666 of them could out-scream any of the upperclassmen.
