Reynolds High School has always ex- celled in its display of school spirit for its athletics and tradition. The cheerleaders, dancing boots, pep board, marching band, and countless enthusiastic students at Reynolds carried the meaning of spirit to new heights. Whether an athletic team was on a win- ning streak or a losing streak, the students at Reynolds arrived at the games in abun- dance. Many of the faithful made road trips to schools as far away as South Rown to cheer the Reynolds football team. Fans ar- rived at the field with the letters R-J-R-E-Y- N-O-L-D-S painted on their chests and shirts were waved whenever a touchdown was scored. The volleyball team did a fine job of rolling the school with toilet paper when they won the conference title. At the home basketball games, numerous compli- mentary miniature basketballs were thrown out to enthusiastic students at half- time by the cheerleaders. Also, constant cheering and the sound of cowbells could be heard above the roar of the fans at the soccer games whenever Reynolds scored a goal. That fans at Reynolds seemed to spare no costs at times to support their school teams. The cheerleaders seemed to ignite a spark into many cold nights at Bowman Gray Stadium and at the other athletic fields and at pep rallies with their continu- ous cheering and encouragement. The dancing boots performed picture perfect routines at pep rallies and at the halftimes of our football and basketball games, whether they danced to rap music or to the more subtle tones of a ballad. Pep board members labored many hours creating signs and posters of support for the athlet- ic teams. Tags donning such slogans as Mutilate Mount Tabor or Kill Kannapo- lis were distributed to each player on an athletic team the day of their game or match. The talented and often rowdy marching band churned out numerous fight songs and beats that compelled many of the students to dance along. But who could forget our Alma Mater? The student body dug our school song, Amid the Pines , out of the attic and made it a priori- ty at the end of assemblies and sporting events. Starting Off On the Right Footf4 Us Riga' Fw?
