OA? Om Not a year passes by at Reynolds where tradition does not stand tall. Whether you view the massive columns of the auditorium or the beautiful pine trees that dot the cam- pus, you cannot help but feel a strong sense of pride build up inside. The Reynolds High School traditions have consistently been ex- cellence in academics and athletics, but what really makes Reynolds great is not its archi- tecture or its beauty. Instead, the Reynolds tradition of greatness has been brought about by the people who attend this fine school. Pride ran full tilt during the school year. The traditions of Oktoberfest and Homecom- ing were tremendous hits among the stu- dents, and the first Homecoming dance sparked a new tradition. Numerous students were awarded the honor of being National Merit semifinalists, thus keeping the tradition of academic excellence on top at Reynolds. Seniors felt a sense of accomplishment by becoming the first four-year graduating class at Reynolds, a tradition that will be carried on for many years. On the lighter side, tradition did have its ups and downs. First period, study hall, and the classes following lunch were just too in- conveniently scheduled for our prompt arriv- als. Parking spots were nearly impossible to find in the mornings and after career center, and the Seniors so graciously, yet unwilling- ly, shared their parking lot with the Juniors. A student risked life and limb trying to enter the landing after the lunch bell, and the mad dash for cars at lunch left many students irritated and many cars bumped and scratched. The moment of silence let us catch a couple of extra winks that might have been missed the night before. Off-cam- pus trips at lunchtime were a tedious, but necessary endeavour for the Seniors and Jun- iors, while most of the honest Sophomores and Freshmen served their time on campus at lunchtime. No two students sang the same tune throughout the year, yet we came together daily as one. Tradition, spirit, pride, and to- getherness ran hand in hand, and we were not ashamed to show it. Thus, the '87-'88 school year carried many new beginnings for us and it left us with memories that will never fade. Roland Todd and Tamia Miller pause to smile while taking a break in the library. staffing off On The Right Foot f 6
