One aspect of the Homecoming tradition that is al- most as important as the football game and the crowning of the queens is the competition of the Homecoming floats. Each year the different service clubs and organi- zations create an entry for the contest. For weeks before the actual event arrives, hours and hours of hard work are put into the productions of these floatsg including the long 'float night' Thursday. Each one is unique and their theme centers around the big football game that night. Early Friday morning the side of the auditorium sets the stage as the floats are presented for competition. The race was won by D. GS. S. and Civitans with their Raid- ers Of The Lost Cause. Second place was snatched up by Girl 's Council and Key Club for their Run Over The Raiders. And the Band's Refrigerate The Raiders took third. Another contest that boosts the Homecoming spirit is the banner contest. These are hung out the windows on the side of the school that same morning. Math Club took first place with Girl 's CouncilfKey Club and D.G.S.S.fCivitans tied for second. I 2f Features Rn M W
