Faculty members guide students in their work Mr. John Tandy, B.A., M.E. Mr. Tandy, a former teacher and coach at Reynolds, directs the over-all administration of the school. Curriculum planning, discipline problems, and general assignments comprise just a few of Mr. Tandy’s many duties as principal. Raion Mr. Robert Deaton, B.S., M.S. Serving as assistant principal, Mr. Deaton assumes the responsibility for the supervision of care and maintenance, audio-visual materials, lunch permits, and tardies. Mr. Deaton also checks on athletic eligibility of all school team members. AHL i 4 UA am 2 mn Miss Mary Jane Baker, B.A., M.E. Conferring with parents, preparing college transcripts, supervising testing of sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and registering new students keeps Miss Baker busy. She also registers sophomores for their junior year. Miss Janie Weaver, B.A. Preparing college trans- cripts and giving information and advice on scholar- ships occupy much of Miss Weaver’s time. She also visits out-of-state colleges and meets with college officials. Mrs. Mae McCuen, Secretary Filing, typing, and answering the phone in the office, Mrs. McCuen, assistant secretary, does not have to look far to find things to occupy her time. Mrs. Betty Thompson, Secretary Aside from attending to innumerable duties in the office, Mrs. Thompson is cashier, bookkeeper, and secretary to Mr. Tandy. Her smallest tasks can be the most important. 18

Mrs. Steelman, who teaches Advanced Placement Biology as well as the first year course, is always willing to identify strange objects found in dissection work. Miss Mataline Collette, B.A., M.E. In addition to being head of the Science Department and teaching chemistry, Miss Collette serves as co-sponsor of the National Honor Society. collecting biological Mr. Franklin Edwards, B.S. No, it’s not kindergarten. It’s Mrs. Pettyjohn’s physics class. She uses tangible objects to explain abstract principles. 19 Mrs. Ardena Craver, B.A., B.S. As head of the Home Economics Department, Mrs. Craver displays unlimited talents with a sewing machine. She is also an expert in cooking, decorating, and household arts. Mr. William Webster, B.S., M.E. Often seen in unusual places after school, specimens or biology teacher and track coach, shows a snake to his students. conducting field trips, Mr. Webster, Mr. Norfleet Jarrell, B.S. After a day of explaining the wonders of science to his students, Mr. Jarrell, sponsor of the Science and Photography Service Clubs, finds relaxation in his hobby of
