The responsibility of the Gadsden County Board of Public Instruction is to de- termine the best policies for the schools of our county and to see that these policies are carried out in an efficient manner. The Board endeavors to make decisions that are for the best interest of all the schools. The County Educational Staff works in cooperation with the principals and teachers of Gadsden County. Chapter I Trying to Inspire It has been said that the main function of a teacher is to inspire his students to learn. The ability to arouse them so that they will try to realize their greatest potentialities is a lofty goal for any teacher to reach. The paper load, the discipline and the lesson plans are three stones in any teach- er’s path; enough to make him “growl.” 5

Youth needs guidance and understanding as well as education. Our principal, Mr. James A. Shanks has devoted much of his life to the purpose of providing this for the youth of Quincy High School. He has won respect by giving his best. Win or lose, rain or shine, Mr. Shanks is always there to support our team. 7
