IN MEMORY OF THE OLD SOUTH The Old South is now over 100 years in the past. May we never forget our heritage and our priceless Southern traditions. Expressed in these traditions are our great virtues which we must never surrender. We inherit a belief in family and religion; manners and a code of honor; culture, science, philosophy, and gracious living. Moreover, there was established for us the tradition of man's faith in the integrity and wisdom of man. We benefit by the prophecy that man has power and responsibility, and that truth shall prevail in an age of crises. Our benefactors had an important part in creating the famous political literature of that time which has never been surpassed in excellence and power. The government of our country was unified and strengthened by the high standards which developed a way of life, particularly the South's own. The patriotic tradition is that of a people who have clung together and who have known a special love of the South, a deep and lasting loyalty! On the division pages of this edition of THE TIGER we, therefore, display scenes depicting ways of life in the Old South. 2
