OFFICE PERSONNEL OFFER GUIDANCE MR. HAROLD STREETMAN, Assistant Principal: Biology; B.S., M.Ed., Mississippi State University; Advanced Graduate Work, Florida State University. Mr. Streetman besides being the Assistant Prin- cipal is also the biology teacher. He and Mrs. Streetman came from Mississippi to teach at Q.H.S. in June of 1954. When he isn't teaching, Mr. Streetman would like to be fishing «or traveling. This summer he and his family visited in the Rio Grande Valley and in Mexico. Mr. Streetman is always willing to help students and is conscientious in everything he does. MRS. LUCIA HAMPTON, School Secretary; Brown's Business College. Mrs. Hampton is our right-hand-man in the office. She is jack-of-all-trades and a friend to every student at Q.H.S. Troubles melt away in the presence of her kindly smile and cheerful voice. Nothing seems to rouse her temper, if she has one, and her patience has no limit. She enjoys gardening and making braided, woolen rugs. This summer she built a patio and enjoyed her hobby of gardening. She also enjoys classical concerts and recordings of them. The Hamptons came to the South in 1950 from Peoria, Illinois. They moved to Quincy from Jacksonville, Florida, in 1954. MR. MERLE KAISER, School Psychologist: B.S., Ohio State University; M.S., and Advanced Graduate Work, Florida State University. Mr. Kaiser, new on the Staff of Q.H.S. this year, comes to us from Florida Southern College. Coun- selling students on academic, personal, social and vocational problems is part of his work. He pro- vides group testing for use in educational clas- sification and placement. He also conducts in- dividual and group therapy. Mr. Kaiser, Captain in the U. S. Army Reserve, attended Army Reserve Summer Camp at Fort Gordan, Georgia, and summer school at F.S.U. this past summer. Horseback riding is his favorite sport. 8

HE IS THE VETO POWER OF Q.H.S MR. JAMES A. SHANKS, Supervising Principal: B.A., Arkansas College; B.S., M.S., Peabody College; Graduate Work, University of Florida. Anyone who has attended Quincy High in the last thirty-eight years will remem- ber Mr. Shanks. His devotion to Q.H.S. is easily recalled in the hearts of every- one. In any and every problem of a student Mr. Shanks takes a vital interest. Many young students don't appreciate this interest at first, but later on they see that it is really for their own good. In the minds of the students, their principal is thanked for his faithfulness, his help- ing hand and his assembly talks that last through fifth period. Yes, Mr. Shanks is truly a Southern gentleman! Even during Mr. Shanks' informal moments in the drug store he is talking to a student. Mr. Shanks holds a powwow with some juniors and seniors. 7

A PERSONAL TOUCH OF THE VIP’S Second childhood? Honestly, what will our faculty think of next? Some teachers' personalities really change from 4:00 to 4:15. Mr. McGinley and Mr. Olivent enjoy a friendly game of leapfrog. Mr. Olivent is surely brave; he obviously doesn't see the dangerous foot behind him. During homeroom Miss Stewart is caught off guard for a second; seems as though she's going over plans for a fifth period bookkeeping class. She's strict in classes but fair to all. She is an ad- viser for the National Honor Society. Mrs. Chamberlain shows a remarkable calmness after the turmoil of senior journalism class. She deserves to be really refreshed. She is especially liked by her students for her willingness to help with any problem. This is her first year at Q.H.S. Don't let it bug you, Mrs. Friedrich, they're all dead. Although she is originally from Alabama, she has just recently returned from Germany where her husband is stationed. She has one son who is attending Auburn University. Mrs. Friedrich helps sell tickets at football games. Oh, by the way, she's a good teacher, too. 9
