TEAMWORK AND DISCIPLINE UNITED Mrs. Meta LaBarre MRS. META LABARRE: Physical Education; B.S., M. S., Florida State University. MR. GEORGE VAUGHN: Physical Education, Basketball Coach; B.S., Piedmont College; M.A., George Peabody College. Mr. George Vaughn THE GIRLS' GYM CLASS plays volleyball for the first six weeks. Other games which follow are basketball, ping-pong, loop tennis, badminton, soft ball, football and dancing. THE BOYS' GYM CLASS is doing calisthenics before it begins some of the many types of sports that it plays out on the campus. The activities of the class include rag football, volleyball, soft ball, basketball, and track events. The different types of sports are played during the season in which they are the most popular. After Chjistmas two weeks are devoted to ballroom and folk dancing. 17

JAMES OLIVENT: Spanish, English, Math; B.S., Florida State University. Stuart Hinson, Judy Williamson, Kay Adams, and Brenda Thomas examine the exhibit table in Mrs. Raulerson's Latin class. Individuals made contributions to display some of the many English words which have Latin origin. In this Spanish class Saundra Parrish points out that esa, in the sentence on the board, is incorrect. Mr. Olivent explains that esta is the correct form of the word. 16

RUBY WOLF: Home Economics; B.S., Berry College; Graduate Work, University of Georgia and Florida State University. Mrs. Doris Gray Mrs. Ruby Wolf The home economics classes are periods from which students at Quincy High can benefit now as well as later. The cooking laboratory students learn the different do's and don'ts of buying. They learn how to plan well-balanced meals, how to cook them, and how to consume them in a gracious manner. They also take short courses in home decorating, social activities, and mat- ters of a personal nature. The sewing classes not only learn to sew, but they also find out about the dif- ferent types of fabrics, their colors, and where to buy them. They learn which fabrics are best for the different kinds of clothes, how to determine whether the clothes they buy ready-made are good bargains or not, whether they are put together correctly and whether these clothes suit their needs. They also take short courses in child care and development and in boy-girl relationships. Nancy Clark and Norma Jean Gray prepare food for a luncheon. Joyce Gray is showing a class how to lay a pattern. 18
