Class History ln 1938 twenty-five little first graders, full of wonder, amazement and excitement were greeted for the first time by their teacher, Miss Margaret Reed. Their twenty-five puz- zled faces belonged to Jeffrey Allinger, Raymond Ball, Tom Basore, Holmes Bell, Cleon Burton, Carl Clay, Glenn Frazier, Bill Freese, Richard Frye, Robert Heath, Lewis Newman, Jr., Dan Purkepile, Don Smith, Lloyd Thompson, Buddy Whitman, Paul Zell, Marcella Bowers, Frances Freese, Mary Hughes, Roberta Rowley, Mable Shoffner, Bessie Brown, Janet Sheffer, Kathyran Gates and Phyllis Allen. We were all very brilliant so Miss Reed passed us on to the second grade. Someone misplaced our second grade record book but during this time we lost Glenn Frazier, Bill Freese, Bob Heath, Lewis Newman, Jr , Don Smith, Buddy Whitman, Paul Zell, Frances Freese, Mary Hughes, Mable Shoffner, Janet Sheffer, Kathyran Gates and Phyllis Allen. We gained Tom Winks but soon lost him. We journeyed on into the third grade with Miss Becktell as our teacher. We lost Richard Frye but gained Bob Barthaurer, Ralph Hubble, Jack Linaberry and Ruth Allen. Miss Becktell seemed to like us, so she passed us to the fourth grade and again tried to drill us in our studies. We gained Lois Baker and lost Ralph Hubble, Jack Linaberry, Lloyd Thompson and Tom Basore. Barbara Robbins was with us for only a short time. We were then promoted mw the fifth grade and into Mrs. Hickman's hands. We gained Damion Spicer, Carl McGuire, Wayne Dorsey, Donna Midlam and Jean Mitchell. Mrs. Hickman passed us on into the sixth grade where we lost Carl McGuire and gained Phyllis Allen and Clyde Watkins. While in the sixth grade Mrs. Hickman tried exceeding- ly hard to prepare us for Jr. High. We were almost as excited upon entering the seventh grade as we had been in the first grade. We gained Richard Smith and lost Jean Mitchell, Raymond Ball, Bob Barthauer, Cleon Burton and Phyllis Allen. Richard Smith left at the end of the year. We then went on into the eighth grade where we gained Clara Mae Smith, Lloyd Thompson and lost no one. Finally we made the ninth grade where we lost Clara Mae Smith and gained Bob Montgomery. We went on into the tenth grade where Marcella Bowers became Mrs. Edwin Corwin and Ruth Allen moved to Sidney. Irene Ashburn moved into our class from Spartinburg, Indiana and Janet Coverstone was with us for the first few weeks of school. Bob Heath returned again from Rosewood. While in the Junior Class, Dan Purke left us for a four months stay in the army and Thad Carr joined us from Lewistown. This was a very busy year for all of us, raising money for the reception. Our play, Hobgoblin House proved to be quite a success. Finallyiwe became dignified Seniors. Everyone was excited, ordering pictures, an- nouncements and caps and gowns. We gave a play called Bolts And Nuts which aided us toward our goal ---- a Senior trip. The following teachers have helped us reach our goal in high school: Mr. Cameron, Mr. Latta, Mr. Allen, Mr. Lewis, Mr. Lantz, Mr. Sanders, Mr. Hurley, Mr. Elsom, Mrs. Rogers, Mrs. McCoy, Miss Winget, Mrs. Sampselle, Miss Dutton, Miss Sterz, Mrs. Si nmons, Mr. Dean and Mrs. Pitts. ll
