Standing our straightest, we reached their kneecaps. But, as they towered above us, we shook in our shoes and voices squeaked as we begged for mercy. To our relief we kept growing and as our limbs lengthened, our confidence rose also. It was only a couple of years before we were looking all those big guys square in the shoulder blades. Finally, as Juniors, we could hold our own. There were no longer any giant Senior?, we stared them in the eye and people actually listened to what we had to say. However, we still had one big year to go. Now, as Seniors, we must turn our eye's downward to avoid tripping on seventh graders. We have watched the school, our class and finally ourselves grow and change. More and more we turn towards the future. But we will always look back with a smile as we remember our high school days. Team ooened uo the season with enthusiastic and eaqer attitudes. The best show of spirit all year was Home-corn inq. Would you believe the sophomore class ripped offwith a fire enqine? Even though we didn't win the float, our candidate did become Queen. For the first time in OHS history the girls acquired their own Basket Ball Team. Six out of thf Fifteen girls were sophomores. In the class, our spirit cooled down a little bit, except in Senior Frito's room. The Class of 1977 is the only one to stand at attention when a person enters Room 7. The sophomores are planning a fund-spirit raisinq activity. A 50's dance and dinner marathon. It should be very successful. The highly-spirited pep assembly at the end of colors' week was highlighted by the CSF Kangaroo Kourt, class skits, pep squad routines and a special one-time-only appearance by the Senior Class' answer to the Beach Boys. The floats in the '74 parade were some of the largest and most original this school has seen. The Senior Class took first place in the floats with the Freshman Class in a close second. New to this year's parade were the Trojan Booster Clubs entry. And, for the first time in years, the Trojan Marching Band in full uniform. The Homecoming Court was graced by Queen Sharon Kilzer of the Sophomore Class and her princesses, Jan Howard of the Senior Class, Francis Savedra of the Junior Class, and Heather Wilson of the Freshman Class. Other seniors that wil play an important part in this year's season are Barry Gossett, Jeff Ray, Tim Kurpjuweit and Randy Schwartz.Joining Green and Morgan in pitching will be Nils Bjelde. Don Ray, the coach, will also work developing a strong group of underclassmen. Among those expected to help the team are Joe Penland, Raynard Compton and Joe Azevedo. Give me that bat it's my turn to hit next. Another exciting day at practice. Playing a little catch in the gym. Bjelde goes into his windup. Mrs. Howe and Mr. Cokor, shown on this page, represent the dedication, skills and time the coaches at Ouincy High give for the members of our athletic teams. Whether our teams do well, as the wrestlimg team did this year, or take their lumps, we believe the coaching is tops. The football season found no less than five faculty members shouting from the sidelines; Don Ray, Red Powell, Paul Whiting, Mike Nesbit and Tim Gallagher. When basketball rolled around Mr. Gallagher guided the Varsity while Gary Whitney and Roy Ng led the J V's and Frosh teams. In the girls' gym Shelia Howe helped the girls' basketball team as Mr. V's wrestling group prepared for the league. Wacking at wiffle balls in the boys' gym, the baseball team started practice under the eye of Don Ray. Add to this the drill team, led by Mrs. Peterson, the Bill Barber Band and the other people involved in running concessions and taking tickets. and you have a successful season, whether the team takes first or last. • IRST ROW. j. The J.V. and Frosh teams are also contenders for their championships and will help the Varsity squad in the future. FIRST ROW: J. Harrison, M. Carey, R. Griggs. SECOND ROW: L. Eaton, M. Bevley, S. Cooperation is felt during the good times and when the chips are down. Everyone seems willing to help in times of need. The student leaders have accomplished a great deal this year. Their influence on the feelings and attitude of the total school membership is appreciated. Student body spirits have been high, whether we won or lost our athletic contests, and it was felt by many that even when we lost we son in many ways. We hope for another good year next year.
