Dagfinn arrived in Quincy in Augusf of l957 and made his American home wifh fhe Tulsa Scoff family. l-le was readily accepfed by fhe communify and fhe sfudenfs here af Quincy l-ligh. l-le was elecfed Sfudenf Council Represenfafive of fhe Senior Class and foolc parf in all senior sponsored acfivifies. l-le was a member of fhe phofography sfaff, vice presidenf of fhe Arf Club, and a member of fhe fraclq feam. The Sfudenf Council presenfed Dagfinn wifh a school sweafer, and from fhe Senior Class, he received a small farewell giff. We hope fhaf fhis year af Quincy will be among Dag's fondesf memories, for we lcnow fhaf we will always remem- ber fhis wonderful year wifh him. SEZVIIIR CLA SS .HIS T018 Y The Class of l958, fhe largesf class fo graduafe from Quincy High School, again had a very oufsfanding year. The school year of '57-'58 was filled wifh many senior sponsored acfivifies, one of fhe more imporfanf being fhe Senior Ball. The Ball was held in fhe Girls Gym on December l4. lf was fhe oufsfanding social evenf of fhe year as was fhe Junior Prom of fhe '56-'57 school year. The fheme was Sayonara. The gym was well decorafed and showed fhe cooperafion of fhe whole class. Anofher imporfanf Class of '58 sponsored acfivify was fhe infroducfion of fhe Foreign Exchange Sfudenf Program fo Q.l-l.S. This program broughf fo fhe fown and school Dagfinn Fausa from Norway. The Senior Class in cooperafion wifh fhe PTA. obfained sufficienf funds fo sponsor fhe annual graduafion parfy. The class, also, in appreciafion of fhe happy years af Q.l-l.S., presenfed fo fhe school a plague which will always serve as a reminder of fhe worlc done by fhis fine class. The Model Club, spon- sored by Mr. Jerman, allracled much inleresl, as did lhe Chess and Checkers Club. Bolh C.S.F. and The Drama Club drew many sludenls. Mr. Firzpalriclc and lv1r.Jerman spon- sored lhe 7+h and 8+h grade inlramural sporls program in which home room groups from bolh grades compeled lor lrophies in loolball, baslcelball, and sollball. Excepl for lhe monlh of November when The flu inlerlered, a monlhly dance was held in lhe Girls' Gym. For lhe lirsl lime, sludenls prepared a Junior l-ligh newspaper under lhe guidance of Mr. Erbeclc, who also supervised lhe noon movie crew. The noon hour was also devoled lo lhe sale of cokes and lhe playing of noon music. Again This year, a bullelin board conlesl was sponsored by The Sludenl Council, and for lhe lirsl lime, sludenl body cards complele wilh lhe s+udenl's piclure were issued. The Junior l-ligh also parlicipaled in Color Week and had ils own Kangaroo Courl al an all-school pep rally. The cheerleaders were aclive bolh in leading lhe Junior l-ligh, as well as lhe enlire school al lhe C baslcel- ball games. Several special assemblies were held during lhe year during which we had quiz T onlesls, pep rallies, and spelling conlesls. They were slow in getting started but by mid- term they had developed into a well rounded organization. The band was again much in demand both by other schools and public organizations. The girls chorus, under the direction ol lvliss Jean Evanilcoll, had a fine year. The chorus and individual groups of the chorus made several public appear- ances. Six ol the girls traveled to Stockton to attend the music clinic where they, with about fourteen hundred other chorus students, had an opporluniiy to worlc under one of the linest directors in Hol- lywood. Four Senior baclcs, Bob Kennedy, Rod Turner, Dick Stowell, and Don Conroy performed well behind this line with some outstanding plays and a new single game, one-man, scoring record plus a new single game passing record. The line consisted ot several Seniors: Jim Scott, John Moore, George Glover, Clark Dodson, Ken Graham, Clittord Jenlcin, and Pete Hanley. The 'ream consisled moslly of Sophomores, wilh lhe Junior and Freshman classes also represenled. A school record was sel by Don Mchflasler who made an eighly-four yard run from lhe scrimmage line.
