A high - school education today is a necessity. For those of us who are not going to college, it prepares us for our future vocations in life. Students who are taking an academic course and are planning to go to college should try to maintain a high scholastic standard. Extracurricular activities also play an important part in our high - school education. Such activities consist of athletics, music, clubs, or work on school publications. These activities will not only enable us to work together but will also contribute to our social lives. Many of us today who are going to graduate from high school are faced with the uncertainty of continuing our education or joining military service. Unless we are sure of being inducted we should try to continue our education as long as possible. We must not forget, whether in civilian or military life, that a person with a high - school and college education will have the opportunity for unlimited advancements. After a slow start, the class was reorganized and put on a definite schedule by Mr. Burns, our advisor. Formerly, there has been a chief editor with other editors working under him; but this year there were four equal editors who got out the paper. There are two news and two feature editors who made sure that all deadlines were met. There were also editors to distribute the paper and to send them to other schools. The Pine Breeze really had a successful year. This reversal of the rules of dating was, as usual, enjoyed by all the boys in school. Toward the end of the year the C.S.F. had their skip day, much to the envy of all other students. Two members this year had the honor of receiving life membership in C. S. F. This is attained by qualifying for membership for four out of six possible semesters. Those students were Tom Hogan and Karen Hard. Members of C. S. F. The Junior High Student body did a fine job sponsoring dances for the boys and girls. With the cooperation of the parents and teachers we also held a forum for parent and child, to create a better understanding for parents of the child's activities. Our group had been well represented in school sports both in football and basketball, winning outstanding achievements in these fields. The outstanding event of the year for the ninth grade was our representative for the Homecoming Queen, Shari Blackman, taking first place. We began our volley ball tournaments as soon as was possible and had a turn out of several teams; thus many good games resulted. Next came our basketball season and we were ready and impatient to get started. It seems this is the favorite among girls sports. Soft ball season found us a little late geoing started as a result of the deep snow, but when the snow melted we were glad of the chance to get out and get under the sun Allin all the G.A.A. had become one of the schools most prominent organizations, and we hope to keep it that way. This year, the play Meet Corliss Archer , was chosen to be given in the spring. Some one - act plays were also given for the entertainment of the students.
