MESSAGE STUDENT BODY Dean Dixon, President Student Body Quincy High School OF PRESIDENT The question that often comes to the mind of a graduate is “What shall I do now?” When one graduates from high school he has a feeling of insecurity, as this marks a turning point in his life. The previous twelve years we have had our tasks laid out for us, and we could always turn to our instructors for advice and aid. But now we are all of us more or less at a moment of decision in our lives. Most of us from our Freshman year have looked forward with great eagerness to this day of graduation. Now that the day has arrived I think that the majority feel reluctant to leave. Graduates are divided into two classes: those who will have the opportunity to go on to college and those who are unable to do so. At the present time competition for jobs is very keen, and it is absolutely essential for one to go to college to prepare oneself for this competition. Those who for some reason or another cannot go on to college will have a hard job before them; but I fully believe thatthere is notone person in this graduation class who cannot cope with the situation. In high school our teachers did their best to train us to meet the responsibilities which lie before us after our high school course. They have tried to teach us good citizenship and to equip us with the knowledge necessary to meet the problems we shall encounter later on. It was harder for some students than for others to absorb this knowledge, but I feel assured that we have acquired sufficient background in this high school to prepare us. Now it is our duty to use our training to the best of our ability and see what we can make of ourselves in the years to come. 6
