tiiSTCcy cr the seniors • IN AUGUST, 1934, thirty-nine Freshmen entered Quincy High School. Eleven of our class have gone through grammar and high school together. These are Barbara Baldwin, Ruth Dunn, Virginia Harris, leanne Hogan, lean Holcomb, Elwood Hunt, Mickey Kerr, Phyllis Prow, Billy Sprague, Elwyn Thayer, and Fred Wolfe. The remaining members of our class joined us at different times during our school years. The first important event of our Freshman year was the reception given us by the Student Body. Later that year the whole freshman band joined the regular group in the annual Music Festival at Chico. Our Freshman president was Marjorie Hill and our advisor was Miss Parkinson. The social event of our Sophomore year was a Valentines' Party which proved to be a great success. That year our president was Stanley Cochran, and our advisor, Miss Broman. Now that we had reached the standing of upper classmen our big responsibility was the Junior-Senior Prom which was given in April. Many hours were spent decorating the gym and the result was most striking. This was the most outstanding social affair of our four years. Our first play, Three Live Ghosts was given this year. Janet Cotter as President and Miss Smoyer as advisor guided us successfully through the year. Although our Senior year seemed unusually short, it was crowded with activities. Several members took part in the play The Late Christopher Bean given in the fall. Several others were on various literary staffs. Two of the members were chosen as head of the Student Body—Mickey Kerr, president, and Louise Williams treasurer. The Seniors were royally entertained by the Juniors at the Prom on April 30. The May Day motif was carried out in the decorations, and the May Day queen, Evelyn Misemer and her attendants led the grand march. Baccalaureate, too, was one of the high spots in our Senior year. This was held on June 5, at the Community Church. With our graduation on June 10, 1938, we feel that our brief stay in Quincy High School had prepared us for a better life. • STANLEY: When I write late at night I have difficulty getting to sleep. MARINA: Did you ever try reading over what you've written. • KEITH: Did you know that Romeo almost got knocked out? HAROLD: How's that? KEITH: I almost hit him. • • MR. BALDWIN: Your talk is just like the musical scale. BARBARA JEANETTE: Musical scale, father? MR. BALDWIN: “Yes, you start with dough and you end with dough.
