Without doubt, the person who has worked the longest and hardest is Mrs. Joanne Finley, yearbook advisor. The 1982 Oriole staff js ex- tremely grateful to have such a dedicated and conscientious advisor. We, as a staff, take the utmost pride in the 1982 Oriole, which is truly an achievement. It is my sincere hope that each of you will savor every word and every picture; and, in retrospection, will have many happy memories of the 1981-82 school year. Working toward making the best yearbook and then finally being able to put together the Oriole yearbook is a rewarding job, which holds many interesting wonders. I would like to thank all of the members of the yearbook staff and all of the other people who made my job an enjoyable one. Also, special thanks are extended to Ron Philbrick at the Carousel for developing all our pictures. In 1978 the Quincy High School and Reading High School Varsity Clubs decided to add something extra to the continuing rivalry between Quincy and Reading. They purchased a bell which will be kept by the school winning the annual QHS — RHS football game. This year Quincy won the bell for the first time by defeating the Reading Rangers 41-8. We must not only act, but also dream. Not only plan, but also believe. “REMEMBER” Remember our elementary days so eager and full of life, Banging our knees and bumping our heads, and our Moms saying, “That’s all right.” We thought we were so grown up. H w I'i U I Ifi i i li Remember our middle school yeart. . . Going from class to class, the fun and the laughter, the problems and the fears. We sat in class dreaming of coming years. Now our high school years are over . . . The memories of football games and starry-eyed dances, the new friends we’ve met, the tests we would rather forget, The vacations we waited for, the teachers we confided in. Our friends were the most special people we had. They were someone to talk to, shoulders to cry on, money to borrow from, Friday night movies, afternoon walks, and very private talks. Our friends mended our broken hearts and said, “Never Fear.” Yes, high school days are precious, but, oh so brief, where we thought all our dreams would come true. Remember the hellos and laughter, Keep those dreams, Reflect on learning and sharing, Cry the tears of goodbyes. As present day students at Quincy High School, we are grateful for the foresight of the 1959-60 School Board. On this the 20th anniversary of the school’s dedication, much pride is taken in our school and the traditions sur- rounding it. The pre-requisite to this was Pre-Legislature, held at the Kalamazoo YMCA in November. At Pre-Leg, Amy Geishert, Tom Bean, Scott Brand, Karen Karney, and Alicia Veysey obtained the offices of Governor, Lt. Governor, Clerk of the House, member of Governor’s Cabinet, and Chaplain, respectively. Only the governor candidate had to compete at the state level. At the state legislature, members par- ticipated in model running of the Michigan Legislature in the actual House and Senate chambers. Youth in Government is a completely rewarding and educational experience; it is a program which con- tributes greatly to the development of the leaders of tomorrow. Also, during the spring, the club sells concessions at track meets to finance their summer trip to YMCA Camp Horseshoe, a leadership camp in West Virginia “with a magic all its own.” 77 A HOMECOMING TO REMEMBER 80 (2) (l)KING AND QUEEN CANDIDATES: Chris Toth, Chris Johnson, Tammic Johnston, Jill Faulkner, Lisa Hickok, Jim Burge, Scott Brand, Doug Loveberry, Mark Ludlow and Todd Strane; (2) Scott Brand just found out that he was voted Homecoming King. In a surprise upset the Quincy Orioles defeated the Bronson Vikings in the second game of the district tournaments. Quincy rallied from an 11-point deficit with four minutes to go in the game to take the Vi- kings into overtime. Quincy outscored Bron- son eight points to three in the overtime to win 62-57. Quincy’s victory against Bronson was the first since 1973. 206 10Z 208 These Seniors showed their Christmas spirit by singing “The Twelve Days of Christmas” over the P.A. System. Mrs. Natusch knew Wally would get the tree lights hooked up. Wow! The snow sure was deep this winter. Art and Alec complete research on the “glass dissolving” experiment.
