June 8 was Honors Night for the class of '77. Pictured at left are Carrie Bradley, 4-year perfect attendance award; the Top Ten: Nathan Carpenter, Liz Geishert, Vicki Spurlock, Carrie Bradley, Julie Strang, Becky Jensen, Linda Huepenbecker, Tina Kanaby, Jim Normandin, Kim Brickey; Bill O'Brien, Special Accomplish- ment Award; Jim Normandin, the Normandin Award which was presented by his father Mr. Jim Normandin, the Varsity Club Scholarship, Boys' State Award, the American Legion Outstanding Service Award; Mike Kling, Kim Brickey, Marlene Middel, Dra- matics Awards; and Shelley King, Girls Athlete of the Year. Other awards included: Scott Luce, Boys Athlete of the Year Award; Karen Matz, Principal's Citizenship Award; Carrie Bradley and Greg Andrews, the Danforth I Dare You Award; Marlene Middel, DAR Good Citizen Award, Girls' State, and the American Legion Outstanding Service Award; Mike Smith, Boys' State: Patti Giffey, Girls' State; Cheryl Fryer and Jan Dull, the John Phillip Sousa Award. Nathan Carpenter was recognized as a National Merit Scholar- ship finalist and also received a Tri-State chemical scholarship, the MSU Award for Academic Excellence, and the KCC Board of Trustees Award. Linda Huepenbecker, Tina Kanaby, and Shelley King received the Quincy Rotary Club scholarships. Jim Normandin was given the Quincy BPW scholarship. The Charles A. Ryan Foun- dation Awards went to Cheryl Fryer, Jim Normandin, and Carrie Bradley. Liz Geishert earned the KCC Board of Trustees Award, the Elks Club scholarship, and the Murray State University Alumni scholarship. Baccalaureate services were held on June 5 with the Rev. Mr. Clyde Mills addressing the graduates. Mr. Judd Arnett, noted col- umnist of the Detroit Free Press, delivered the commencement address at the ninety-seventh annual commencement exercises on June 10. 27
