OTHER IMPORTANT PEOPLE 142 Middle School 180 Elementary 200 Sponsors and Index to Advertisers Graduation requirements - A total of 20 credits is required for graduation. The only exceptions are transfer students who must carry a regular class load once they enter Quincy High School. All students, regardless of when they graduate, must have at least 15 academic credits. Academic credits include all subjects with the exception of music, physical education, library aide, teacher aide, and office aide. General information - A. Required courses needed for graduation: 1 credit of math, 2 credits of physical education or band in 0th or 10th grades. 3 credits of English. 2 credits of science. 2 credits of social studies of which !; credit must be government: B. All students must carry five courses each of the four years of school. At least four of these courses each year must be academic. Six courses may be carried: C. Activity credit courses include: audio-visual, band, library aide, office aide, physical education, and teacher aide: D. A minimum of 20 credits is required for graduation of which at least 15 must be academic credits: E. A student cannot receive credit for course duplication or course regression; F. Summer school or correspondence courses must be approved by the principal in order to count towards graduation; G. Driver education is offered during the school year and sum- mers without credit toward graduation: H. The prerequisites listed for the courses are guides to success in the courses and are listed for the benefit of the students; I. It is important that all students develop satisfactory personal characteristics and, whenever possible, partici- pate in extracurricular activities: and J. It is the desire of the administration and the profes- sional staff to continually strive for improvement. Therefore, it is possible that the require- ments, curricular offerings, and rules and regulations will change according to the needs. Every year certain students win distinction for themselves and for your school in various ways. Honors available to seniors at Quincy High School are: Outstanding boy and girl citizen. Boys’ and Girls’ State, D.A.R. Good Citizen, Danforth-Foundation ”1 Dare You” Awards, Top Ten, Scholarship award for a 3-point average or better. National Honor Society. Awards are presented in agriculture, commercial, mathematics, publications, science, band, and athletics. Service awards are also presented to librarians, student council, and class officers. 5
