The second annual Senior Honors Night was held June 9 in the gymnasium. Steve Smead acted as the Master of Ceremo- nies. Entertainment was provided by the QHS chorus and members of the class of '76, including Jill Sours, Jody Sours, Vanessa Rawson, Jim Fry as Mr. Majestico, and Dennis Bice who sang the class song. Dr. P. C. Baldwin presented the Charles A. Ryan Foundation Awards to Deb McVicker, Jill Sours, and Cindy Taylor. Rotary Club scholarships were presented by Mr. Dennis Smith to Tim Brown, Diane Swallow, and Tim Worth. Mr. Spalding presented Kathy Smith and Lee Brown with the ”1 Dare You Awards. Kent Dirschell received the Normandin Award; Jim Fry, the Citizenship Award; Cindy Taylor, the award for perfect attendance through four years of high school; Cindy Baker, the D.A.R. Award; Kathy Smith, the DeKalb Award (the first time ever to be presented to a Quincy girl); Tim Baldwin, Boys' State recogni- tion; and Steve Rollins and Marty Fahlen received awards for their contributions to drama. Other awards included: Scholarships to Brian Wilson, Cindy Taylor, Robin Kee- ton, Jim Fry, Tim Baldwin, Jody Sours, Jill Sours, Connie Wells, Chris Wolfe, Lewis Temples, Sue Bowerman, Bill Blair, Tim Brown, Many Fahlen, Bill Kurtz, Tom McRae, Deb McVicker, Steve Rollins, Tim Strang, Tim Worth; John Phillip Sousa Award to Alan Fegley and Jill Sours; Yearbook Awards to Kelly Kennedy, Allen Johnson, Marcia Null, Trudy Merritt; American Legion Award to the Outstanding Boy to Allen Johnson; Girls' State recognition to Tracy Macklin and Cindy Taylor; and perfect attendance for the year to Alan Fegley. Four-year sports awards were presented to Tim Wonh for cross country; Dave Tut- tle for wrestling; Bill Kunz for baseball; Dean Ripley, Brian Wilson, and Joe Wright for track; and Linda Osborn for cheerleading. Lee Brown, Varsity Club President, made a special presentation to Mrs. Nell Volken, honoring her devotion to athlet- ics and installing her as an honorary life- time member of the club. Manfred Harmsen, Mariella Lavarello, and Masae Okumura, exchange students from Germany, Chile, and Japan, spoke about their year at QHS and how much they would miss all of their new friends. Kay Losinski and Velda Sperbeck con- cluded the program with the class poem and closing remarks. Seniors Earn Many Awards 26
