Altig 0 The 1958-59 football season got off to a very poor start as the -Iackrabbits were swamped by the Pullman Greyhounds 34-13. The next two games with the Chelan Goats and the Othello Huskies were won with scores of 25-20 and 6-0. From then on it seemed impossible for the Jacks to win as they were pushed over by the Moses Lake Chiefs, Eisenhower of Yakima and the Eastmont Wildcats. Excitement rose high as Homecoming approached and at the half the Jacks were leading Cashmere 13-O but they finally forged ahead to beat the Jacks once again, with a narrow margined score of 14-13. The last game, a traditional Armistice Day game with the Ephrata Tigers was lost, and made the season's total read two wins and six losses. The boys deserve a hand even if luck did seem to be against them all the way. Patfgn The teafn S ivan YT' . ' .4 fl 1 ' it l a A 2 47 4.Q pi' ,sw fi 1 v 'V' F. Q .if . . lt . The highlight of the season was beating Ephrata 71-52. Although at the second meeting of these two teams the Jacks weren't hitting and lost 55-41. The loss knocked the Jacks out of com- petition for a spot in the District Tournament and dropped them to third place in the final league standings of the Southern Division of the Class An league. 1n the Annual Basketball Jamboree on December 5, the Basin teams defeated the Valley teams 112-111. In the opening Quincy defeated Cashmere 17-9 and in the second game the Jacks were defeated by Wenatchee's Gold team 20-17. The -lacks had a league record in the 1958-1959 season of 4 wins and 4 losses. The B squad, with Ray Brown as Coach, ended the season with a 6-13 record. X IH I B. Peterson B. Elliott 1.
