AND AROUND Q.H.S. 2 There is no time of the year quite like the autumn. The days are getting shorter. It is still warm enough to go without your coat during the day-time. The leaves are turning yellow and crimson. Harvest time is here and the rost is settling on the pumpkins. School is well under way. The World Series is over and the Kansas City Royals are the champions. At the half-way point of their season, the Patriots are in second place. The Celtics acquired Walton. Sichting and Vincent to go with Bird. McHale and Parish and look the sure thing to take it all. In past years, no one at Quincy High would be caught dead wearing a costume to school. This year the students and teachers wore costumes. Ms. Combes and Mr. Scanlon were, by far. the winners among the teachers with an honorable mention fo Mr. James Sullivan. Ms. Combes was a walking fruit salad and Mr. Scanlon was a sad clown for his Team Nine students. There were a few interesting incidents during the day. Mr. McDonald was attacked by the specter. Jerry Mullin made it through the whole day without tearing his costume and then it was ripped leaving through a door. The Guidance Office was decorated for the day as it is every holiday. HALLOWEEN ’85 IN Halloween: It's a time for parties. It's a time when you don't have to act your age. It's a time for plain old fun. It's a time for snatching pumpkins. Prizes were to be awarded by the Goldenrod staff for the best costumes worn to school. During this Hal- loween at Quincy High one could find, not only students going to their classes, but also Raggedy Ann and Andy, priests, the specter of death, ninja, devils, cabbage patch peo- ple. firemen, and every sort of clown im- aginable. The best sights, according to the judges though, were Michelle Palardy as a fried egg. It turned out to be a problem because she had been sewn into the costume without any allowance for the call of nature. Then there was Patty Morrell, who came in second, dressed as a tiger. Judging was extremely difficult as there were many ingenious outfits. In addition to the party atmosphere at school there were a number of parties that evening and on the weekend. The Class of '86 was more vocal and the costumes were wilder. For instance, there was Peter Schuerch dressed in the naked woman costume. It was so realistic, we didn't dare to include his picture here. Everyone who at- tended the parties did their own thing and more important had a great time and en- joyed themselves. The chix of '86 ventured off to gather ap- ples. It was to be a fun day. but alas, when the ladders were set in place, they discovered there were HO APPLES! Stacey Horrigan and Jennifer Golden decided on a half-hour race, or more properly, a hunt. They drove to a town with which no one in either car was familiar. They then set out to gather pumpkins. Jennifer's car gathered 6 to Stacey 's 5. A celebration was later held at McPunky's.
