The 1980 Goldenrod Yearbook is dedicated to two individuals who have merited the respect and admiration of those who have been touched by them. Both have exerted a pro- found influence upon the students of Quincy High School and Quincy Vocational Technical School by means of their perceptiveness in regard to the needs of the students and their selfless devotion to the betterment of the educational process. Mr. John Chrusciel, retired Head of the Science Department, expressed his dedication in several ways. Born and educated in Vermont, he started teaching at Q.H.S. in 1 953, and in the same year became the Science Department Head. In that role he did much for the ben- efit of the students and the science program. He updated the lab facilities, which were vir- tually non-existent, and the programs of study. He also instituted an awards program that gave city-wide recognition to students who excelled in the field of science. Mr. Chrusciel has certainly earned the esteem and admiration of both students and faculty. We wish him much happiness in his retirement. Mr. Martin Finnegan, by means of his friendly manner and his easy rapport with students and fellow faculty members, has endeared himself to all who have known him. Besides his role of physical education instructor, for eight years he was Senior Class Advisor. He was also a basketball, football, and golf coach, and served at one time as Assistant Principal. He also took part in a school sponsored Drug Education Program. In whatever role, Mr. Finne- gan has earned the high regard and affection of all. v. i; I Mr. John Chrusciel ¥ -V -V ' . His dedication and love for the school is shown in the way he attends to daily activities and relates to both students and faculty. Mr. Hill exemplifies the qualities of leadership and inspiration which contribute to the smooth operation of the school. He is the stabilizing force that alleviates the tensions which often arise during the school year. He has become, in the eyes of the students, a model to be respected and emulated. 18 tf vsr. ;. Lawrence Babin Director-Principal, Quincy Vocational Technical School Mr. Babin is the director of the Quincy Vocational-Technical School. As direc- tor, he has offered not only guidance and leadership to numerous students, but he also has been highly perceptive to the ever-changing needs of the stu- dent-body and the faculty. He possesses the rare ability to address and respond decisively to the pressing concerns which confront him daily. This ability is reflected in the way he oversees the efficient administration of the Vocational-Technical School. As a result, Mr. Babin has distinguished himself as director and administrator. 19 ' f jii ' . The classes minutes passed slowly as the hours dragged on, We ' d think of the time when the day would be gone. Although there were days that were fun when shared with a friend. We all hoped for the day when the classes would end. Junior year we slipped through each calendar block hearing voices drag while they talked. It ' s senior year. If I could only part with this feeling of gray. Wishing tomorrow would bring back today. Let the past be remembered the present alive. Leave the future unknown and let adventure arrive. HM It is hard to express in words our feelings for Lori Pinkham. She has unselfishly given her time and devoted all her efforts to make this volume of the yearbook possible. She was constantly urging us forward in this project and time after time used her skill and effervescent spirit to encour- age us when it appeared there was more work than we could possibly do. She gave more of herself than required and we will always appre- ciate her. We would also like to extend our thanks to her husband, James Salvucci, for being so under- standing. A special thanks to Ms. Pinkham ' s dog Squids for being so patient while waiting for his release from the house. We hope that he does not have permanent kidney damage. 200 V :y •?!  -.— ••■■. .
