Superintendent Mf Dr. Lawrence P. Creedon Dear Graduate: When you receive your copy of The Goldenrod, it will be in part but one more reminder that the shadow is lengthening on the most formative years of your life. Hopefully, all of us associated with the Quincy Public Schools with whom you have come in contact have served you so that in the years to come the shadow will burst into rays of new opportunities for you. In the final analysis schooling is concerned with but three things and they are to assist young people in becoming more self-fulfilling individuals, while help- ing them to become good citizens and competent workers in a world that is maximally effective for all. To work with you toward the realization of such ideals has been our pleasant task over the years as we have been privileged to nurture your growth, agonize over our collective failures and puff up with pride over your accomplishments. Be there no mistake about it, the world you have grown up in has been steeped in seemingly insurmountable problems and tragedies, yet with the publication of another annual edition of The Goldenrod goes the message that a new pro- mise is upon us and that another generation has arrived ready to apply its new strength and youthful enthusiasm to making life better for us all. Good luck!
