Mr Russell Raynor Mr. Russell Rayner has been teaching at Quincy High School for 34 years. His first year of teaching was in room 303 where he still teaches today. According to Mr. Ray- ner, his room is the only thing that hasn't changed. Mr. Ray- ner's first goal was to become a Math teacher, however, due to an overabundance at the time, switched to Physics and attained his masters in the subject from Brown University. Mr. Rayner feels that his students today are more knowledgeable and sophisticated than those in the past. He attributes this partly to television which he feels in many ways has increased the learning rate of students but it has also restricted their imagination and creativity. To learn and to find new knowledge is a great ex- perience and Mr. Rayner encourages his pupils to strive to gain these on their own initiative. On weekends and holidays Mr. Rayner enjoys biking, hiking and swimming near his cottage in Maine where he and his squaw will someday retire. Before this, how- ever, we wish him many more enjoyable classes. Mrs. Kdlhorme Myatt Mrs. Myatt who first came to Quincy High School 27 years ago, is our enthusiastic Latin teacher. She attended Trinity College in Washington D C. and majored in both Latin and English. During her first four years at QHS, she taught Latin. She is very active in Latin Club programs. Her activities include Bake Sales to raise a Latin Scholarship, dinner at Walsh's for the Latin Club members and out of sheer generosity, cook-outs in the summer at her home in Canton. Her terrific personality and great sense of humor has made her a favorite among the students of Quincy High. Over the years of teaching at QHS, she has taken part in Page and Stage, been an advisor of a yearbook, been a member of the Newswriter's Club and along with Mr. Rayner, was in charge of a class day one year Her many years at QHS and her genuine interest in students is and will be remembered and appreciated, now and in the future. 5

DEDICATION Dedication can be described as devotion to someone or something, and is found in many forms. There are two people within Quincy High School who have especially lived up to any connotation of dedication that has been found. These two people are presently teaching and have been teaching at QHS for over twenty-five years. Within these twenty-five years they have patiently taught and worked with students, giving the best they have had to offer. Teaching is not just standing at the front of the classroom lecturing. It is working with the individual students to help them straighten their own ideas and problems. Teaching is helping pupils to see the value of knowledge and how to use this knowledge to its fullest in making their lives more rewarding. Teaching is not beginning the job at 8.00 A.M. and ending it at 2:30 that afternoon. It is giving up leisure hours to work with a student who needs extra help in his studies or just to talk with someone who needs a listening ear. Two teachers in our school have most often demonstrated these characteristics and have done so outstandingly as teachers and compassionately as people. We, the members of the Senior Class, therefore dedicate GOLDENROD 1974 to them and wish them much good fortune for their future. 4
