We bid you God's speed, and may success attend you on your way. Your motto, is something which requires a great deal of deep thinking. It is as the professor says: HSomething you may put your teeth into.U nDeserve success and you will command it.n A very good motto. Remember one of the slogans of your school days? UI will study and prepare myself, some day my chance will come.H Those were the words of Abraham Lincoln. Did not his chance come? Did he not deserve his success? I believe that you will admit that he was able to command the success he deserved. Success--HThe man who succeeds above hisfellows is the one who early in life, clearly discerns his object, and towards that object habitually directs his powers. Even genius itself is but fine observation strengthened by fixity of purpose. Every man who observes vigilant- ly and resolves steadfastly grows unconsciously into genius.H --Bulwer. Seniors, I hope that you have set your goals, that you have fixed your purpose, and that you will command the success you deserve. You are going out into a war torn world, life in this sort of a world will require very definite adjustments, a great deal of determination, fixity of purpose and a sense of duty to yourself, and your fellow man. In commanding your success be sure that you do not suffer the effects of success as stated by Jonson--nSuc cess produces confidenceg confidence relaxes industryg and negligence ruins the reputation which accuracy had raised.' In other words, I mean, grind your ax con- stantly, be alert to all the opportunities which may present themselves to you. They are present every day. Be like Lincoln, work hard, keep at it, you have just begun to prepare yourself, it is as the philosopher would say--HOut of this school, into life's school.n You have a life to live, a success to gaing you, fellow man, have a goal to reach.
