This has been an annual custom between the three schools for a number ol years. Tae students are really enthusiastic about these plays. It gives them a chance to go out and see some of the neighboring schools, play on another stage, meet their friends in the neighboring schools, and make new friends. This year our choice of a one-act play was a drama. A very serious play, NNe Greater Love,n written by Wil- liam D. Fisher. In the play we have so much of real life portrayed, so much of the human tragedy, that grew up with it. One member of the east in an the cast unguarded moment made the statement, UI believe, this play has done me a lot of good.u With a goodly number of rehearsals, Margaret Smith was veryoutstanding playing the role of Grandmother to the young doctor, Dean Day. Her smooth way of snowing the young doctor his real dutyin life was very'teuohing. The young doctor, eccentric and egotistic, fresh from his school of his home, medicine, shows very plainlyhis disdain ' for his parents, and his Uncle and grandmother. He quarrels with his Uncle Les Cain, played by Don btieneke, but in the end he sees his mistake. He realizes that the duty of a doctor is where he is needed, he does fulfill his father's wish, and his mother, Judity Cain, played by Darlene Tresler, and his friend, Helen Johnson, find that he is made of the right stuff. In this short drama these young people took upon themselves the characters of the play, the tense situ- ations could be felt through the silent response of the large audience. Many of our patrons made very favorable comments of the type of play, the deep meaning of the play, and the excellent job the five members of the cast, all underclassmen, did in working up this fine entertain- ment. To make the one-act play evening perfect, the rhythm band of the primary grades made their first appearance of the year. Their outstanding number was UStars and C '1 stripes Porever, a number very fitting for our present 13 11216 4
