J , .ev O I 'N ' ...J E Q E35QQW FEW GIRL RESERVES I Girl Reserves Officers for the year werel President--Berniece Kohn Chaplain--Beth Graham Vice President--Geraldine Fassler Pianist--Virginia Griffin Secretary--Joyce Elliott Entertainment Officer--Betty Rupp Treasurer--Carolyn Ladwig - Assistant Advisor and Sponsor--Mrs. Mortensen Faculty Advisor--Miss Evans The Girl Reserve year opened on October 2, with a meeting to decide about Capsule Friends. The members were all in favor of keeping up the mysterious exchange of gifts, and a ceiling price of thirty cents was placed on all gifts. On November 6, another meeting was held, and plans were began for the initiation of the new mem- bers into the club. On the afternoon of November 15, the annual Girl Re- serve Initiation ceremony was held in the gymnasium. Mothers and friends of the members were invited to wit- ness the impressive candle-lighting ceremony ' which in- stalls new members in the organization. Mrs. Mortensen gave a talk, explaining the meaning and significance of Girl Reserves. A short musical program was also included. At the close of the afternoon, a light lunch was served to approximately eighty guests. A G. R. meeting was held on December l, and the reg- ular business meeting was conducted. The girls decided to present G. R. pins and code bookmarks to those girls who either had never received any, or had lost theirs. The next meeting was on January 153 and the members voted in favor of having a Bake Sale, Bazaar, and Program for the public on some Uednesday evening. Plans for this oc- casion were begun. On January 22, it was decided to set regular meeting dates for the Girl Reserve club, and that some special attraction be had at each meeting. Betty Rupp was elected officer to provide this entertainment. The meetings are to be held regularly twice a month on Friday afternoons.
